If I get a Sept class with PSA, that's a 6 month head start. DAY would be my only option for somewhat living in base (2 hr drive).

I was curious where PSA stood with staffing. The more info I have, the better decision I can make for me and my family. Thanks.
If DAY even exists as a base within 6 months..

1) don’t plan on DAY as a base. It made sense in a different era and is running on inertia

2) PSA (and all regional) staffing is not at steady state and likely won’t be for some time. Hiring is to cover attrition. Every major is hiring at Vne… plan accordingly

meh I’d say you can count on Dayton closing about 9 months after you stop seeing it on the bid.

Hard to make a decision when we have never really been in this position as an industry. There's no way to calculate how long reserve will be, what upgrade times look like, etc.

Like I said Endeavor would be ideal, but a 2022 class date is painful. At PSA I could commute out of CAK if DAY is not available, but I'd like to avoid commuting if at all possible. Is wasting away in a crashpad (potentially) for months on end better than sitting around waiting for a class date with a shop where I could live in base?? Seniority is king right (within reason)?

well they are going to close the DAY base at some point… the flow is 13-15 years I saw and we are only flowing 10 pilots a month starting September and we have over 1900 pilots.

do not come here if you’re planning on flying out of DAY

It your options are
1) commute to reserve
2) drive to work maybe for awhile

2 is better
