Default The Useful PSA Thread

The initial gain for the company is allowing all the prior 121 guys in training and waiting for IOE to go straight to upgrade without finishing FO training first if they want. People who haven't even applied yet probably aren't what they are targeting. There's got to be around 100+ prior 121 who have started between December and now that would benefit from the change.

Plus this frees up IOE slots for non-qualified FO's since they don't need to worry about ramming the prior 121 pilots through.

In nearly any other situation, that sort of a message would startle me. However, it was a nuisance message I had heard many times and knew was something to just ignore in that particular instance. Sublime, you're that GPWS. We've all heard your message. Many times. While some may agree with you, many have an opposing view point to yours, both at PSA and elsewhere. It no longer carries any weight and comes across only as an ignorable, nuisance noise. Clearly there are 25-30+ people, every two weeks, that consider your opinion to be that of the minority. Understandably you cannot change your opinion at this point as you've gone full-in on hating PSA, but for the love of all things good and holy, can you please stop stating the same "backstabbing" business every few days? It's a regional airline. Whoever it was that lied to you and told you it was going to be fair, perfect, high-paying, and forever stable is who I would propose you begin to direct your anger toward. We're all here for our certain reasons, non of which are to "screw you over" or "backstab" you. I do it to feed my family and because I can drive to work. I would propose that a total of zero point zero people that work at any regional airline chose that respective airline in order to screw you or anyone else, for that matter, over. Yes, we've all read what you think. We've all seen that you have angst against a group of people you don't know a thing about. And that, sir, is more sad than anything else. Go feed your family, I'll feed mine. Perhaps someday when this all crashes down on the bean-counters that made it this way we can share a beer and talk about how "terrible" it was.
What I don't get is this: Why are PSA pilots so horrible in the minds of sublime and the rest of the PSA haters, .....but Compass, R.A.H., T.S.A., and Piedmont pilots are still in good standing after agreeing to take delivery and fly planes that are either currently in envoy's fleet (145s) or were offered to envoy, 175's). Why the double standard?

Honestly, I am not sure about that. There is currently no new hire direct captain training program. Such a thing needs to be developed and approved by the FAA the last time that I checked. I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure that is the case.

They are currently expediting the IOE for previous 121 guys that want to upgrade.

There are about 70 FO's that are eligible for upgrade that are bypassing. Some of these have bypassed for years and are lifers in the right seat. Others are waiting until they can hold a line and not sit on reserve anymore. The company can do some things to make these eligible FO's want to upgrade, and that is what they will hopefully be working on right now.

There isn't. This board is full of wanna-be pilots that don't understand the industry or history and it makes them feel better to troll a particular pilot group. Some of them are probably college kids in aeronautical programs that think they know everything, while others are probably microsoft sim "pilots" that only know about our industry from movies and what they read on these boards.

Are the previous 121 guys getting more flight time than those without the 1000 121? Reason I ask is I have 500 hours military PIC so after 500 hours 121 time I can put my bid in (if I'm comfortable doing that) but to get that 500 hours feels like it's going to take forever because I'm sitting reserve in CLT and hardly flying. I'm thinking about moving to TYS FO for June to get a line.

I'm just wondering if scheduling looks at that kind of thing when they choose who they call on reserve.

So what does all this mean for new guys coming on board? Anything? Also, are the reserve guys not flying much now? Previous poster said he was reserve in CLT and not flying much? I was under the impression that guys were flying quite a bit, so that a hotel/crashpad wasn't really even needed while on reserve?

OK maybe I can't say I'm not flying that much. I've flown 55 hours in april while on reserve. But it seems since I got my 100 hours I haven't flown at all. (You need 100 hours in your first 100 days after your PC)

The 500 military hours doesn't count toward the 1000 121 sic required
