Any PSA recruiter care to comment on a possible ASE program. Word on the line is envoy will keep the 700's, they are the only AAG regional with an approved ASE training program and engineering data (SKW does, but UA has a termination clause that restricts SKW from providing feed for any carrier outside UA)... PSA POI stated PSA will not be approved for ASE flying due to relative inexperience of crews. Any validity to this?

Don't you work at Compass or Mesa, both of which have the same short upgrade as PSA?

I would be willing to bet that if we were to compare all of the new hire classes across the regionals by average total flight hours, PSA would win right now by a large margin. The average guy coming in the door right now has over 5000 hours at the regionals.

Dude no way. I am sorry but there is just no way the "Average" new hire at PSA airlines has 5000 hours. Come on. That is just ridiculous. Do the math. If you get just one 1500 minimum qualified applicant, how many hours would the next new hire have to have to make an average of 5000 hours between the two? I've been pretty quiet lately but that is just a ridiculous claim.

In case you can't do the math, to support your claim, one 1500 hour person would need someone with 8500 hours to make an average of 5000 hours between the two. Math. Because.

To even further support your claim of 5000 hours "at the regionals", it would really have to be more than that.

Take it down and admit you might have just got caught making up a statistic.

Oh and yes, the FAA has a serious issue with letting PSA fly into ASE right now. When you fly into mountainous terrain, that requires you to go missed often, it is not for rookies.

My class makeup was about 50% prior 121, of which the majority had 4 to 5 + years at a regional prior to PSA. Another 30% were either mil or prior 135, and the rest were more or less the 1500 hour types. So I'd say the average experience level for PSA new hires favors more experienced over less experienced.
