I'm willing to bet that the 20+20 will be filled with current pilots on the seniority list in seniority order. Now might some of those pilots be street captains in class right now? That's fine but the way it seems to be working will be in seniority order.
PS - new hire FOs are hired before a vacancy is opened. You are hired, you put your standing domicile bid in, you are eventually awarded something during training.
I'm not trying to split hairs on it, but what happens if these 40 new openings are filled in seniority order? Then they would not be street captains.
In my mind, in order to be a street captain, you get hired into such a position without a bid award, or a bid award is lowered in favor of hiring a street captain thereby displacing an eligible and willing pilot. Again, why put a bid out for this?

How is the training dept regarding absence? I have a family member getting married and I am a groomsman. I would be literally murdered if I missed it.
Not sure if I should bring it up in the interview, or just wait and see if I could get a day or two off to make the wedding. It's on a Saturday, and rehearsal on Friday night. I didn't know if weekends were off time or what. Thanks

You have Saturday's off. In regards to Friday. It depends on what stage of training you are in. Some people have IPT training at night. That could be you.

Please, give us your future prediction on what's going to happen. This is your chance to be the new "Savior" of APC. I'm actually going to be gone for 2 weeks so I'll never read it but others will. I hope to come back to see a few "Latest RJ Pilot prediction...GV type ratings and closed airport authorizations for everyone!"
When you landed in Kai Tak, did your operator require special training?
Thanks!

From the local.
Many PSA pilots are aware that the MEC Negotiating Committee met in Dayton this week to discuss improving the current Special Selection Process (SSP). With the current reality of staffing significant growth, discussions impacting required increased attrition were difficult.
Considering the needs of all parties involved, the committee has reached an agreement in principle with PSA and AAG. We are finalizing bullet points of the agreed items and preparing for MEC presentation at the upcoming Special MEC Meeting on June 1, 2015. Final language will not be ready in time for the MEC meeting. Prior to releasing details to the pilot group, the MEC will have an opportunity to review the proposed agreement and vote to recommend or reject it. More details will be made available prior to any member ratification vote. We are pleased to report progress and appreciate your patience through the review process.

I actually read it as negative... As in the SSP won't increase by much because the company can't afford to lose any more senior CAs and check airmen right now. We'll know soon enough though.
