If I go to PSA and if this happens to me (two ifs, so new-hire-baiters please begone), my plan is to continue working as a CFI and make plenty of coin by combining my two paychecks. Those months will be the most money I'll earn in quite awhile.
Any new-hire going anywhere should know about the negatives of their chosen regional. Any less is just poor pre-flight planning. This negative of PSA is a lemon that can be used to make lemonade. Other regionals have negatives with no solution.

The "solution" for the "other regionals" is for PSA to go tango uniform.

You can list as a "jumpseater" for other airlines without being in CASS, you just have to ride in the cabin. I did this several times.

Q-63.
Does personal and military flying time count for cumulative limit
purposes?
A-63.
No. Only flying performed by the flightcrew member on
behalf of a certificate holder or 91K Program Manager
during the applicable periods counts for determining the
cumulative limit.Thread
