man study 2 hours a day? sounds painful! back when I worked at burgerking in highschool and made 1,200 a month I didnt have to study at all.

I can't believe you guys are trying to paint 2 months between class and an oral as good thing. New hires are concerned with passing and flying at this point in their careers. Emphasis on passing. Should I start a new thread on pass rates at PSA?

I hate PSA as much as the next guy does (and he hates PSA too, just fyi) but this is actually good for them. Each day getting paid to do nothing at first year pay is a day closer to getting paid to work on second year pay.

When I got hired at Eagle I had almost 2 months between checkride and IOE. That was 2 fewer months that I was not on reserve at first year pay.

And it is an issue. Once you put someone through ground school, you kind of have an obligation to get them at the very least through their oral in a timely manner. Otherwise you're really doing them a disservice.
It's PSA. They'll pass them regardless.

Psa is completion of checkride. That is almost 8 months worth of time before being able to Jump Seat.

Your math is terrible. You are on 1st year pay for a year regardless. The the difference is you're getting paid the absolute minimum whereas you could be out crediting 100 hours. The latter has you malong way more.

If I go to PSA and if this happens to me (two ifs, so new-hire-baiters please begone), my plan is to continue working as a CFI and make plenty of coin by combining my two paychecks. Those months will be the most money I'll earn in quite awhile.

Any new-hire going anywhere should know about the negatives of their chosen regional. Any less is just poor pre-flight planning. This negative of PSA is a lemon that can be used to make lemonade. Other regionals have negatives with no solution.

Hopefully you know to get PSA's permission to fly commercially outside of their operations.... Which is almost unheard of btw. But other than that, good idea bro!

...or maybe it's 60 days...I can't remember which. Either way, there is a time limit as to how long they have to get the sim done.
