Doubt it. Mgmt knows that street captain hiring is a black eye when it comes to FO hiring. Right now every regional needs to find ways to bribe people off the street to come in as an FO.

I have heard several scenarios, none from anyone credible of course. The one that sounds most feasible is 2500 total with 1000 in type in company. Yes it is only a little over a year upgrade, but they will have 1000 in a Pinnacle CRJ. This has got to be better than a 3000 hour person with only 500 in type and 2500 in training aircraft.

This will have no affect. The captain involved has been with Pinnacle for 6 years...

Well his true motives have been shown, and no further argument from him will suffice. The pinnacle pilot group is one of the BEST pilot groups I have flown with. We are all in this together trying to make this the best place it can be, and I for one am happy to be here.

If Pinnacle is so great, why do they come to UND and hire 250 hour pilot's. I know for a fact that has recently happened. Good luck on the next contract. How can we as pilot's justify making more money if all it takes nowadays is a high school education and a comm-multi certificate. This is just another way to reduce the pilot shortage in managements favor. Glad everyone was safe but I think this is going to happen more and more in the upcoming years.

Could it be because UND has agreements with several Regionals??? Why do you think that UND trains the student pilots in CRJ?

Where did you get that Pinnacle is the only Regional taking pilots from UND?

UND and several regionals has an agreement that states that UND will give innitial CRJ knwoledge and familarisation to its students and in return the Regionals will give some of the students an interview. If any regional takes a pilot with 250 hours is under such special sircumstances. No pilot with 250 hours from the street without any knowledge in CRJ can expect to get an interview with the regionals, not yet that is.......

So if you ask how Pinnacle can be so great if it takes students from UND then the answer is " as great as all other companies doing the same"

Stop putting Pinnacle down

Gulfstream academy ring a bell... go to jetuniversity.com... what a joke. Chautauqua and Skywest can still get new hires with at least a little experience, why can't Pinnacle? Mesa and sounds like now TSA also have the same hiring practices.

what?

Jetuniversity and Gulfstream are very diferent.

Every pilot have their own way of finding what is best for them. I dont think I would have done any of those programs but I respect the ones that do as it is their careers and noone needs to put them down for doing what they think is the best to get forward. If you have an opinion and would like to help those pilots then you can advice with open mind and respect.

To get in to Gulfstream Academy you have to have more than 250 hours + multi time and be current on instruments. You are tested before allowed to start (I know, I am from Florida and been in contact with their former chief pilot many times as I was interested in a Captain position with them to be close to home) and when you go from Gulfstream to Pinnacle you have already achieved a lot of hours at Gulfstream and all their training. Secondly, I know for a fact that at least two of the guys starting this monday at Pinnacle have not only near 1000 hours of multi time but even more than 500 turbine hours and that is not something you find often among candidates for other regionals. I believe that Pinnacle is one of the few that really is interested in older Pilots with higher time in contrast to others that takes mostly 500 to 600 hours young guys or at least Pinnacle try to keep a mix.

Again, Pinnacle as all other Regionals are short of Captains and that will get worse. To hire pilots with 200 hours is no solution as it takes too long to upgrade them and during the time the shortage of Captains gets even worse so I do not see how they would be interested in that.

To say that other regionals find more experience pilots than Pinnacle is very far from reality.

Pinnacle is the only ones taking UND guy with that low an hours. Horizon wouldnt interview here with less than 750. and by the way I know a guy with no CRJ training got hired by 9E with 400. Dont believe me though, I know nothing about UND I only worked there, and he was my student.

I have lived in Michigan my whole life and have flown into TVC countless times. The weather does get bad there. But in this scenario I believe it should have rested on the captain. He had a decision to make. Bad weather, poor runway condition, closed tower. I believe he made a poor decision. Everyone knows how your last flight of the night is but, you cant let that affect your judgement. I had three flight around Northern Michigan Wednesday and we had divert two times. The weather in Michigan is no joke it can change very fast. Dont take risks!

Every airline has low time pilots. Some might allow lower time pilots than others but, we all go through the same training. If they cant cut it then they are let go.

I have a hard time understanding why half the people on this website even participate. They act like a bunch of arrogant, cry baby middle school kids. They argue over everything they read. This is a forum for conversation not a B**ching session. People need to grow up.
