I'd be careful with the attitude that having over a month off between your PC and IOE is a "vacation." Ask the check airmen and they'll say that those are the guys who are way behind the plane because most haven't reviewed the flows and callouts. Just make sure to stay on top of things during that time off. I find that the quicker I learn things (i.e., cramming) the quicker I forget them!
"Lighten up Francis!"

The break between your PC and IOE should be a little vaca. After the "cram" course you need the time off. IOE is on the job training. Nobody hops in the plane and does everything perfect. Everybody is in such a big hurry. When you finally get on line you'll propably be saying you can't wait 'till your 4 day's over so you can get some time off. Slow down.

I wouldn't use the company headsets or earplugs (yuch!). I have a Bose headset. I wouldn't fly with anything else and they fit in the top of my flightcase on top of my Jepps.

Agreed. Go home, relax with the family, and wait for your call from scheduling. I'm all for that. You need it after drinking from the firehose for two months. I guess what I'm referring to is a few guys in my class who didn't crack open the POM at all to review anything, had 3-4 weeks off, and when their IOE came up had a tough time (days had to be added to their IOE, friction with the check airmen, etc.). I'm only basing my opinion on their experience and what my check airman told me during my IOE. Also remember that many guys have sub 300 hours TT, so reviewing before IOE certainly couldn't hurt.

What, you don't have the time to read through 117 pages?

All that aside, we all know that reading the POM and chair flying is very different from being in the real airplane or even the sim. It would be nice if we could be scheduled so as to avoid being "out of the saddle" for so long.

I have not heard of anyone on property that is sub 300 hours, much less the quoted "many". And you really dont need to crack open the POM if you have anything between your ears. Take to the time to enjoy your last paid vacation in a long time.

In regards to the headset I would recommend the bose X, lightweigt, crystal clear, and not to hard to carry around. Since I only get one set of ears, I think I can deal with the inconvenience of having to lug around my own headset.
