A vacancy notice is where they are showing openings in FO and Captain/Upgrade positions at the various hubs. Up until now it seemed like a new notice was coming out every two weeks or so, but the last notice now was out maybe 3-4 weeks ago I believe.

They have to give 10 days notice of a class, so the FEB 4 200 upgrade vacancy can still be a few weeks away. The company is most likely waiting for the flowthrough LOA to be signed. If awarded a class before the LOA is signed, you are not seat locked.

I asked about this earlier and just in case anyone else was wondering I talked to HR and got a firm answer, for FOs, you can go through training on a second class medical as long as you had a first class in the past 12 months. Thanks guys. By the way, is anyone starting in the Feb. 11 class? I have not seen anyone mention it on here.

LOA for the flowthrough agreements between NWA and Mesaba. No big surprise about mgmt holding back awards until its finished. It's all part of the game...

Holy thread length batman, I just read the whole thing (took about 4-5 hours off and on)

Anyway, I have an interview for the 16th of Jan. I am a military guy so this will be a whole new realm of aviation for me. I have my ATP and am hoping to go directly into the SAAB out MEM for the obvious reason plus its an easier commute for me from Pensacola FL. (All assuming I get hired of course)

Couple of random questions, where did the "XJ" tag come from. Took me about 70 pages of threads to figure out what it was referring too.

Also being that I am right at 1500 TT with almost 1000 ME (All turbine), I would expect to still have to hold FO for a time in order to get to AT LEAST 2000 hrs TT right? Many times in this thread the term "ATM Mins" is mentioned for upgrading, but I thought the Mesaba Mins for CA was 2000 TT. Am I missing something here? Not to mention I personally would not feel comfortable flying as CA with little to no time in a particular model A/C.

This is a GREAT thread, and it is truly refreshing to see a complete lack of bickering/off topic issues in a thread so long.

I look fwd to the oppurtunity of becoming a Mesaba employee and working with this great group of Pilots.

"XJ" is the IATA airline code for Mesaba

Upgrade minimums for internal applicants are ATP mins. For external (street captains with no Mesaba experience) the mins are advertised at 2000 hrs.
