Does anyone know if any of the street captains have hit the line yet?

EvilGN,

If you have the 1500TT as well as the other ATP requirements (FAR pt.61), you would most likely be eligible for upgrade before you even finish FO training.

However, your plan sounds good. Get enough months in the FO seat until YOU feel comfortable with the upgrade. Just keep an eye on hiring trends/upgrade movement so you won't miss your window of opportunity.

Good luck with the application/interview process!

As far as I know we havent put people in that hotel in some time. Rumor is that some guy had bed bugs there. Hope they cleaned it up!

I'll admit though, I stayed there the night prior to my interview and it seemed like a nice place.

It's no rumor, it happened back in June. I also understand that they replaced all of the mattresses, but put all of the old, unwashed bedding right back on the new ones. Kind of defeats the purpose.

The people were nice, but there's nowhere to walk to except Sam's and less than a handful of places across the highway. No continental breakfast or anything, whereas I believe the other hotels do have at least breakfast.

It's been said here before, but I'll say it again for all who care to listen.

If you are within a few states of Minnesota (a full, long day's drive) and you own a car, consider driving.

You will be in a hotel for at least a few weeks, and being mobile goes a very very long way towards easing the hotel blues.

Good luck to all who are coming!

Anyway, I have an interview for the 16th of Jan. I am a military guy so this will be a whole new realm of aviation for me. I have my ATP and am hoping to go directly into the SAAB out MEM for the obvious reason plus its an easier commute for me from Pensacola FL. (All assuming I get hired of course)

Couple of random questions, where did the "XJ" tag come from. Took me about 70 pages of threads to figure out what it was referring too.

Also being that I am right at 1500 TT with almost 1000 ME (All turbine), I would expect to still have to hold FO for a time in order to get to AT LEAST 2000 hrs TT right? Many times in this thread the term "ATM Mins" is mentioned for upgrading, but I thought the Mesaba Mins for CA was 2000 TT. Am I missing something here? Not to mention I personally would not feel comfortable flying as CA with little to no time in a particular model A/C.

This is a GREAT thread, and it is truly refreshing to see a complete lack of bickering/off topic issues in a thread so long.

I look fwd to the oppurtunity of becoming a Mesaba employee and working with this great group of Pilots.
Since you haven't been at a 121 operation it sounds like at least get your feet wet on line for awhile and depending what you did while you were in a summer and winter under your belt or at least part of each. T-storms and ice.

I'll go farther and say if you live in the continental US or canada you should drive. I drove from Vermont...and was happy I did every morning and evening when I didn't have to wait for the bus. I was happy I did on weekends too

I drove clear across the Country, twice, to have my car with me during both Initial Training Events...having your car to escape is priceless.

A few?? Heck I drove from Texas, and I'm so glad I did. You do NOT want to be stuck at the Homestead without a car. You need to get out and turn some tunes on and just drive sometimes to keep your sanity, especially during systems .
