what would suck is if they closed the base and then 4 months later after everyone has moved out they decide that they need it back.. (like that has never happened, oh wait it did, we lost our msp base and then within a year after everyone had moved they re-opened it)..

That's just SOP with Delta/Comair... Closed MCO in 2002. Reopened MCO in 2006. Reclosed MCO in 2007. Opened GSO in 2006. Closed GSO in 2007.

But the C.W. is that MEM/CVG would be redundant and one would have to go.

And RJ85FO - Thanks for the "green line" description. It makes sense now.

Hey guys and gals, well considering I get to spend 8 hours doing airport appreciation tomorrow in DTW I figure I'll go ahead and pose the question: Should DAL and NWA merge, what do you think will happen to us? Considering we're wholly owned vs. the 10 regionals that DAL has just curious to everyones thoughts. I appreciate the several minute diversion!

I will say getting rid of the CVG and MEM hubs will probably be a step in the right direction as far as the the overcapacity in the US. Having said that, I do believe WN would swoop right in to MEM...not sure if the same could be said for CVG with another carrier. As far as us...there are no guarantees...anything's possible. I will say DL/NW is more feasible than DL/UA. But no matter what happens, we must always remember that these deals are done for the benefit of no one but shareholders.

Hi, I'm new to the thread and APC.com, let me just say that I'm very happy to see a bunch of guys actually helping each other on this forum rather then beating their chest about who has a job with the best airline. Awesome! I have a few questions for all of you, as I don't seem to be getting answers from other places. Anyway, I interviewed on Dec.18 and was hired (FO). But, I just want to know when I'll start. I know the new vacancy award was issued (12 crj new hire slots) but I know I'm not one of them. When does the next vacancy award come out? If I'm seleceted for training on that one, how long till XJ contacts me? What equipment/base do you guy's believe I'll get? Thanks in advance for all of your help.

Welcome to APC and XJ. My experience was that I was offered employment in late April, I believe and started on 7/2, for what its worth. As far as equipment and base, its kind of a crap shoot. It depends soley on where the company needs you at the time they contact you. However, if you get the CRJ-200 you will be MSP only. Thats the only definite for now. Good luck!

3585 is the exemption by which a flight can be dispatched and alternate requirements if the destination is forecast to be above minimums, but the TAF calls for TEMPO, BECMG or PROB of going below minimums.
