I think you meant did anyone expect the media to blow things completely out of proportion (well yes). If this thing had a 20-30% lethality rare I could understand the current level of fear, the only plauge currently is the media. For context Ebola kills 90% of infected, the Black Plauge killed about 50%.
Last I heard globally the Covid19 death rate about 3.5% So lower than the other 2 diseases. In the US that rate is lower. Probably because we have plenty of beds and equipment overall. Now what happens when the spread overwhelms the system. Likely we will see a rise in percentage of mortality. If it gets so bad (probable at this point), than the percentage will spike.
We’re in the early stages of spread here in the US. So it’s easy to write this whole thing off as blown out of proportion. In another week, what will things be looking like? My guess: ugly.
Stay safe everyone

But only in their context.
Ebola doesn't spread very easily, it's a problem in Africa because of special social practices and some suspicion of well-intentioned authorities. Recall that it made no inroads in the US or most other places. If you actually catch it and don't get the new drug, your odds are very poor.
Plague is still out there and very occasionally people catch it from proximity to animals in the wild. In the middle ages it devastated the world because rats carried it on ships and caravans, and fleas from the rats spread it to people. We control our rodents better today, and don't tranship them in wholesale quantities. We also live in circumstances where rats and fleas don't have ready access to us. If you do get it, modern medicine gives you a very high chance of survival.

Are “they” hiring pilots?
Must be nice to never accept responsibility for anything...next time I need an ASAP I know who I’ll blame.

If you can’t get any attention at the hospital because they’re overwhelmed and without supplies, chest pains, pneumonia, or whooping cough (had two cases in my town last year) are all pretty scary.
Math don’t lie...flattening the curve is a must.

This article puts COVID-19 into perspective using data and what we have found to aid and inhibit the transmissivity of the virus. The government's response is overkill and it's ruining our economy and our industry.

I hope no one you know is severely impacted by this, because I know if I were out proclaiming it as NBD and it took out people I knew..... I don't think I'd ever be able to forgive myself.
