TD,

we still don't have an energy policy in this country. When the world economy started to slow down oil started to crash. But the US is still at the whim of the middle east since we don't have any alternative fuels right now and we won't go get our own oil supply.

Plus, Washington seems hell bent on nationalizing every industry we have so that amount of debt is crushing the dollar. Right now if you give the treasure $1 for a T-bill, they'll give you $0.99 back. we're still not as bad off as most of Europe right now, but in the next few years the dollar maybe the next bubble to pop. If that happens we'll have greater worries then being furloughed from Comair.

If CMR and ALPA agreed on conditions that would bring ASAP back, I've heard the process could take up to a year.
I agree, it's not owned by anyone. However it was also said that the process of bringing this program back into place would cost near a few million dollars. Not sure if any of this is true, but it could very well be that our ASAP certificate or agreement now belongs to compass or a new holding company. Think about how quiet this MEC has been over the past two months. All they have said is that we are hiring new lawyers for the merger possibility. Oh, yeah, and that they are thinking about our guy on furlough.

Yep. I think we're just on the tip of this thing. The captain hasn't called for the emergency descent checklist yet, if you know what I mean.

New message up on epic from JB. He said his message last week of no more reductions has changed. There is now going to be another 1.5% decrease in flying for 2009. Staffing levels are being determined and will be passed on as they are available.

I don't see that 1.5% on epic...did you call in and get that figure from his phone message thing?

Yes, that number was mentioned in the phone message. It shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone, unless you were stupid enough to believe that another round of Delta capacity cuts wasn't going to include Comair! Happy Holidays and be sure and go the extra mile for your company this holiday season!

ASAP isn't owned by anyone, and there is no certificate or agreement to buy. The "agreement" ceased to exist the day the union walked away from the table. I doubt, though, that the FAA will be in any hurry to start a program at Comair again (negotiate a new agreement) with the current union leadership. Why go through the pains of starting the program again only to have the union walk away first time they don't like the way DS looks at them?
