New Memo on epic....10-12% increase in flying..with a HUGE shift from CVG to the NE (67% of all our flying will be in the NE) by May.
Also dropping of a base in the NE. I expect a BOS base to finally come to pass...as appx 10-12% of all our flying will be out of there.
Could be good news folks.
"Most importantly, the increase in block hours results in a significant reduction in
our need to furlough. Based on this schedule, I expect minimal flight attendant furloughs and do not
anticipate the need to furlough any pilots, at least through August."

So if we're still apparently short-staffed now (based off occasional reserve reports posted on here) how do they expect to operate 3000 more block hours with what they have? Am I missing something here?

You guys need to realize this comes from DL. How many time have we seen a memo that could potentially be good news, and a few days later our happy thoughts got crushed. I think the BOS base will never happen, as the DL flying out of there is too unpredictable. I do hope they are done with the furloughs, the last thing we need is more pilots on the street.

Well, I stand corrected. Through August anyway! Not sure what happens after the summer schedule drops off though. None-the-less, this is going to bittersweet for our crews. As many of you have stated before, there are going to be quite a few people that are displaced and therefor unhappy, and there will be quite a few people that will be happy to see more padding in JFK and possibly another base in BOS. Good luck to everyone!
I wonder how much this announcement will change the 55point/Early Out numbers? Only a few more hours left to act.

Does anyone see this like I do. Essentially, the size of the base in JFK now is going to be the need for that size of a base in CVG this summers? I can't imagine CVG with less than 200 FOs. Better yet, I wonder what kind of seniority it would take to hold that.

I agree with CRJDriver in regards to Delta quickly and unpredictably reversing course.
That said, let's hope for some improvement in schedules, rapid recall of those furloughed who wish to return, and adherence to the spirit and letter of our working agreement.
Let's also not fail to continue planning for the worst case scenario, and it's impact on our personal financial security. That's the only thing we truly have control over.

For all of you CVG folks (I'll still call you hayseeds
) would you rather go to JFK or BOS? BOS is a longer commute (maybe another 30 minutes) and has less flights per day. The city and surrounding area is also expensive, maybe not as much as JFK but much more so than CVG.

I'm becoming an expert on selling grills. But other than that, I have a nice "playoff beard" going, and it's nice not really having to worry about much.
The power equipment is fun too!
Although I do get weird looks when i call out v1 and try to rotate....

The thing is, the words that stuck out for me in the memo were no the numbers and increase in flying, but the words "anticipate" and "scheduled". Again, this can all change again by the end of the week. However, if Comair does see this increase in flying and shift to the NE, I think it will only be through the summer. For some reason I don't see them opening a BOS base, only to close it 3 months later. This has been discussed a few times before during a net conference. However, I could see them create a New York base, in other words JFK/LGA. You could start/end a trip in JFK or LGA. I wonder how many computers they could fit in the (closet) "crew room" in LGA
