For some reason I don't see them opening a BOS base, only to close it 3 months later. This has been discussed a few times before during a net conference. However, I could see them create a New York base, in other words JFK/LGA. You could start/end a trip in JFK or LGA. I wonder how many computers they could fit in the (closet) "crew room" in LGA
Do crew bases have to be approved by ALPA? I don't know if ALPA would go for a "NYC" base without getting something in return, as that's a HUGE advantage for the company (and money saver)!

Most of the guys doing all the yapping in there already know it all, so surely they have predicted this and are not caught off guard by it all......

BOS would definitely be more of a senior base if it happened. The LGA possibility though is very real IMO. I think Delta and American already operate a JFK/LGA base system don't they?

I am guessing that it would take 8 or 9 years to hold FO in CVG provided we don't call everyone back and upgrade a billion people.

Here are some questions regarding a BOS base:

Why?
-We do not have any significant increases in flying in BOS specifically over the next few months so why open a new base.
-Didn't we close two bases to become more cost effective?

Why not?
-If you look at it in terms of DCI coverage, strengthening a position in the Northeast with a BOS base is a smart move. One step further, as CRJDriver suggested, is a co-base with LGA. Conversely, this would fall in line with an eventual decline of CVG with Mesaba and Pinnacle having a firm presence in the midwest.

I think CVG is about to get very senior very fast.

New base may just mean a 70/76 seat base in jfk.

You wanna talk about totally pi&&ing off the top half. Take all of the flying out of CVG and then base the 700/900 in the NE. Could be a real possibility too.
