Oh, I see what your getting at.
Unlimited means you can travel to as many cities as your little heart desires, without limitation (ex: you only get 8 buddy passes now...NOT unlimited).
The next bullet point just says you get to keep those benefits for one year per year of service.

So here's the head scratcher. I'm getting furloughed next week. Have 5.5 years of service. Have a SLIGHT possibility of getting a high paying/good benefits/solid retirement job locally, but that requires giving up 100+g's in flight training.
If I take the furlough, then I get good flight benefits until recall (which I'd either say no or take the recall, depending on the status of this other job). If I take the package, I automatically get sub-standard flight benefits for 5 years.
Hmmm, what to do.....

I realize they won't change it, but each of those programs should have regular flying benefits - the buddy passes, but just for different durations. This little detail which most likely costs them peanuts will probably cause this to be a deal breaker for some.
I don't see many folks taking this package, number one reason is that there are no other jobs to go too. No unemployment if you take it, and the compensation part is paltry.
If Comair/Delta want to get rid of thier high labor cost on the pilot/FA side, they need to sweeten the pot, like free education, some type of pay, early retirement with full benefits, etc.

He likes telling people he's been at Comair for 5.5 years, but he was a ramp tower resource giving instruction cleared to push hold short fuelburn recorder south line 3 fox ground point 7 coordinator for 3.5 years.
5,5 years is still 5.5 years no matter what you did before you were a pilot. I'd say that since he is being furloughed and has the time under his belt to take an early out option, he is the lucky one. At least he has the option.

So are these yield fare tickets based on your current seniority I wonder? Do they stay at that seniorty, or are they below an active pilot with one year of seniority buddy passes?
So would this be 10 weeks pay + pay for your vacation? Technically you've been awarded your vacation so that should be included.
You wouldn't think many people would take this, but I have been talking with numerous FOs that are considering going back to school full-time. For them this might actually help. I would say that everything but the flying benefits portion of this is decent. What more could you expect from a nickel-and-dime store?
