There is no doubt in my mind that we will see more furloughs in August or September. I would look for that to be announced probably some time in June or July. Just my guess. I would also imagine that Delta is timing the parking of MD-80's or DC9's around that time as well. We will have fall trickle down in hours + overall travel being down. Now add to that all of the public that is getting freaked out over the "too tired and inexperienced" regional airline pilots and I see numbers drastically reducing until things change.

I don't doubt that there will be more furloughs, unless something drastic happens, but at the same time the DC9's and MD80's going away probably wouldn't be horrible for us..as the routes wont ALL go away, and they'd probably be looking to just reduce capacity a bit on some of the antiquated NWA DC9 routes.
I don't think the public gives a flying toot about most of this. They go on Delta.com and buy a ticket, not caring and 99.9% not even realizing that they'll be flying on a regional. You're giving the flying public too much credit on their perception skills, and too much emphasis on whether or not they're going to give a crap.

For once the media is doing OK on this one, and Death is a pretty good persuasion for the traveling public to us their perception skills.
Hey guys, I was looking on another site and someone posted that S. B. said about 300 more guys on the street this fall. Any truth to the rumor? That would put a total of 500+ on the street.
Hope this is not true.

It is also up to you to decide if SB is a credible source.
