Those furloughed / downgraded might be interested to know that Comair's completion rate for the first five days of July is 90%...dead last. The "next worst" connection carrier is at 98%.

"Comair is adequately staffed for its mission" - This years President of Comair - May 2009

Bas and BAH are tax free so the effective first year salary is 52,307.00.

These rates assume you are a 0-1 with zero time in service and drawing no specialty pay such as flight pay or combat pay. If you are serving in a combat zone or even near one all pay is tax free. Many officers are commissioned in programs that start their time in service the moment they sign on. A typical marine 2nd LT in the PLC program will start as a 0-1 over 3 and would make with the tax break over 61,000 a year effective compensation. Base pay would be over 40,000. Oh and if you are married your BAH would be another 4000.00 more per year and could push the total to over 65,000.

If you go to flight school 2 years later you will be a 0-2 drawing flight pay. Total compensation would be around 80,000.00 a year. Not to bad!!
I feel used and abused. 16 years enlisted E6 light inf recon and my pay pretty much blew. I know I should've been an E7 or E8 but I chose to stay where I was at. I didn't want to get into the staff jobs.

Well, JB just announced a 20% reduction in block hours for September. Says furloughs are "unavoidable". Read all about it on EPIC.

unavoidable my ass. If they reduced the block hours by 20% and kept the same amount of pilots we would then be appropriately staffed!

Am I mistaken, or was Freedom's numbers better yet Delta still wanted to cancel their contract? These factual numbers do not bode well for Delta's court case.

After JB's announcement, I would expect our summer completion percentage to go down significantly.

I would like to welcome the new batch of furloughs Brothers and Sisters. Next time you fly with a captain that has picked up open time, remember that you will be on the street because of his/her actions.

There are 297 pilots thinking about you at this time in need. Come to where he Growth is.
