Comair updates?
I would offer a part time pilot program like Delta has. (heard this from a Delta FO) They are allowed to work 55 hrs a month and it mitigates furloughs if not eliminates them. Can you imagine how many JFK commuters would jump at the chance to only commute to JFK twice a month instead of 4-5 times? The company would be paying less in salaries because the more senior people would be taking the part time program for the most part and the higher salaries would only be making 55 hrs a month.
Furloughing from the bottom only eliminates the smallest employee costs, creates huge training costs when the employees return, and destroys morale. The part time program makes much more sense to me.
That's what I'd do.

I don't think you are starting to think that. I'm pretty sure you have had a feeling for a while now. But yes, I think the only reason NG4 is still around is because he is properly doing what Big Daddy D wants him to do.

Perhaps that and the fact NG4 is not disturbing anyone at the GO with his trumpet practice, of course that would require people working there for that to happen.
For you who are not paying your ALPA dues, the this is the email sent by ALPA:
In light of Monday’s announcements by Delta and Comair management regarding further reductions in flying, and the possibility of 100 CMR pilot furloughs, your MEC is working to protect the jobs and quality of life of our members.
On Tuesday July 7, 2009, we met with company management to begin a discussion concerning furlough mitigation efforts. At this meeting the company informed ALPA that they are estimating 100 furloughs and presented your ALPA representatives with four potential mitigation plans: Long-Term COLAs, Voluntary Furloughs, Early-Out Separations, and Flex-Line Value.
Over the upcoming days, we will be requesting and analyzing company data and thoughtfully reviewing these proposals in an effort to create a meaningful mitigation plan that may help to avoid or minimize involuntary pilot furloughs. Both your MEC and the company are interested in accelerating their review of these topics. However, we will not rush into any programs that do not provide appropriate benefit to the professional pilots at Comair.
We look forward to working cooperatively with Delta and Comair management to reach a mutually beneficial resolution that may minimize or eliminate the need for any further involuntary furloughs.
Please continue to stay informed and let your elected MEC representatives hear from you about your concerns. We appreciate and count on your input.
