No, not necessarily new. I've seen her up there before. But let's think this through here. A mechanic for Comair, and airline of entirely CRJs, had no idea how to start the APU. Then...had no idea how to do a check that she was tasked to do. All they had to do was hold on to the ice detctor and see if the ICE caution message comes on. But she thought it had to do something with the engines...................

Don't get me wrong. I don't blame her at all. She obviously did not get sufficient training to work on these airplanes. She admitted that she had no idea what she was doing. That takes lots of courage. Especially for a young girl of about 23 years. What I'm saying here is how can we, as a part 121 airline, allow ourselves to throw someone out into the operation without sufficient training. No, I'm going to go start bashing "management," that does us no good. It just disappoints me that things have gotten to this level.

All kidding aside, that does seem pretty strange. If you know her name, maybe report her to the MX department. H46Bubba is the MX guy on here, maybe he has any ideas?

We've asked the same question? No one here knows what she looks like. If any of you guys have a camera phone, pics would be greatly appreciated!
We know who she is and she's pretty green. She's straight out of A&P and highschool. I think she's 19? She has to be walked through pretty much a lot of stuff that she does by the mx control sup. I just told the sup about the APU story and he had that look on his face. It was priceless! LOL

Oh, same crap really. Supposedly we've been awarded some lift for another airline. I really think it's the same BS or they've confused it with the ground handling that we were awarded not too long ago. If it was lift, I'm sure we'd be hearing more about it by now.

even i know how to start the APU on all the 3 aircrafts
she could have just asked a ramp agent to start the APU, but if she was a mechanic they might have been in shock.
