I did come from the "Academy" back in the day. Their private pilots better not be flying anybody around, even for free. If they even have anyone staying there after private anymore.

When they say "Delta is trying to put the pressure on comair" WHAT does that mean? to be cheaper? pay cuts? I dont get it

I was going to ask the same thing. There was an article on flightinfo that someone posted, but it was from 2006 and it talked about an old RFP and Delta putting pressure on Comair during the BK. A couple people went crazy, but it turns out it is nothing just an old article.

Funny how you just responded to my post on here while I replied to your post on JC at the same time

I guess it takes a little longer for the W2s to get out to the West side of the country. Maybe tomorrow... Damn taxes!

Multitasking! That's because I only live 2 miles from the G.O., so of course I'd get it the day after it was mailed!

Had a little bit of a frightening experience yesterday in JFK:

Come walking out to the airplane, there's a Comair mechanic in the galley with a worried look on her face. She says she needed to do a daily check on the ice detector, but didn't know how to start the APU and needed us to start the APU and engine.

This kinda raised a red flag in the Capt's mind....why would you need to start an engine to do a daily on the ice detector? She totally had no idea how to do the test....let alone start the APU......this Comair employed and certified mechanic. It's not that this was contract maintenance, she was part of the Comair crew there. It's not that she was an apprentice or anything, she fully had her A&P and signed the logbook.

Anyone else had an interesting encounter as this?

Maybe she was new? I dunno. Nothing surprises me anymore in JFK...
