Because they are hired a few years after the Captain? In Comair's case, decades.

Although tremendous skill is required, unfortunately it has little to do with obtaining the position.

Isn't that funny. One could be named "Jack Dumbpilot" but when their seniority number reaches that magic little place they become Captain.

Take the Air Train to Federal Circle, hop on the free shuttle from there. You should probably tell the driver that you are not sure where to go so you don't miss the stop.

Dr. Phil was on CNN & was giving props to the entire crew. That was nice.

Pay has absolutely nothing to do when comes time to assign blame. My point is this, how many accidents are recorded were just one pilot did everything, whether good or bad?.
Yes he/she is the PIC, but it takes 2 to tango, and believe me when the outcome is not the desired one, then most times "The Crew" will share blame.
It bothers me a little that the right seat did not get any recognition. Btw, the one in that UsAir flight has been there for 23 years. Doubt he makes 1/2 what the Cpatain makes -28 years-. And doubt he just sat there also.

What I want to know is how much rest they got the night before. I'll bet it was more than 8 hours. I'll also bet they didn't have a 15 hour day the day before.

There is little talk about he "co-pilot." To the media he/she is probably still in training and was sitting on their hands just watching the "pilot"

Hey guys, changing the subject a little. Just went to Skywest's site. They change the closing date on their job openings page for the F/O positions. New closing date is 12/31/09....Go check it out.

That is old news. The closing date was just reset for the new year. SkyWest is not hiring, in fact they are overstaffed.
