Great news! 3.6% (before pilot haircut) profit sharing checks going out today. According to Dan Dixon, "Each employee has contributed, and we will see the payoffs in the months to come."
To all furloughs, good things will be happening in the months to come. Great work! It's confidence inspiring and truly rewarding to know how our hard work and effort will be paying off.

There have been good things to come in the coming months since about 2004 and since then look at what has happened to our fleet/number of pilots.
Hopefully your optomism pays off, but I would take Dixon's memo as a grain of salt until you actually see something to be hopeful about.

Good luck with the whole "staffing" part......
I can't wait to see this place at this time next month, when everyone has sat their maximum of 6 readies and many are crediting well over 75hrs.....all in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.........MELTDOWN!

It happens every year; and they are surprised about it every year. I am fully expecting at least on JM attempt or trip extension over the holidays this year -- but we don't have a staffing problem.

Good things in the months to come? Don't get too excited. We didn't even meet half of the goals that were set. 100% completion is nice, but unfortunately we have sacrifice on-time performance to complete a schedule. If they would staff the airline correctly and recrew late flights, we could not only have 100% completion, but we could improve some of the other goals.

Just curious, do you actually have a say in that? If I were here after next week I would absolutely be with you on that, reserves shouldn't be flying that much anyway, but when they call to hand out an assignment can you actually refuse or would you just accept under protest? I never broke guarantee while I was here anyway but I'm curious how that would work.

Talk about being Delta's reserve airline. I got called in just as the World Series was starting to do a flight that Pinnacle had to cancel. This flight was canceled at 3 in the afternoon. After Delta finaly realized we could do it, it was 1030 byt the time we got out last night. Went down to Tampa and back. Got in about 3am. Guess Delta is never going to realize you get what you pay for.

As far as not going over guarantee, I guess it depends where you sit on reserve list, but there are a few things that I can do. It begins with not bidding to fly, certain reserve windows, when going over guarantee, calling in sick, fatigued, or personal leave will put an end to it. If you are going over guarantee, getting JM, not getting PL days, that's telling me the airline is not properly staffed. I shouldn't be flying this much on reserve. Built me a damn line then. The guys that are not going to get furloughed are going to suffer, too. Yes, we still have a job, but we will get used and abused, and our QOL will go down the crapper (not that it is any better now). Unless you have been here over a decade, you will suffer starting next month. Even lineholders, because once you are displaced, scheduling will own your a$$. I'd actually rather be furloughed (would have taken voluntary furlough) than thinking about the crap life I'm going to have soon. Should be a fun holiday season...
Merry Xmas!

It's guys like this that pick up open time, bid HI lines, do favors, etc... that cause problems. Why should Comair or any other airline recall when their pilots are pulling more than their share of the weight?! This kind of stuff just kills me...
