Any furloughees try non-reving on NWA the last couple days? I thought I might be able to try since some had successfully slipped through the cracks. But...I see tonight on TravelNet they finally changed us to S3B, so I'm wondering if they're also on top of the NWA thing too. Just trying to find out so I don't get stuck tomorrow..........

I guess I misspoke. I know it isn't a raise. But a higher line value equates to greater income. I understand that there will be other changes aside from this, but I'm just discussing this one variable.
I just find it ironic that the union drew a line somewhere that says 50 jobs isn't enough to continue the lower line value.
And no, if the lower line value saves 50 jobs, it will not help me one bit.
Just seems that both sides aren't very good at barganing. The union brought something to the table. And yes, it seems to be a pretty good deal with lots of options. Then the company responds with a counter offer that stipulates the continued lower line value. Then both sides leave the table. One would think there should be a continued barganing practice. Not "I want this and nothing else" and "We'll also want this" and neither side is willing to bend.
Man goes in to buy a car. Dealer offers a price. Man says I'll pay that, but I want 10 years warranty. Dealer says no. In any normal situation, the process should continue from that point.
Wasn't there a Monty Python sketch like this once?

Delta hates Comair pilots? I do know one thing, the Comair MEC needs to make amends with the Delta MEC. Be mighty nice to have them on your side as well, especially since they now have a seat on the board at Delta. I know most are still ****ed off about the whole furlogh deal, so it'd be a really tough sell to get back into their good graces.

from what i hae heard through the vine. the comair mec has been meeting with the delta mec regularly during the delta/nw merger integration process. now whether this decision of the delta mec to allow the comair mec to sit in on meetings was based upon the r.j.d.c. ruling vs. alpa or it was just in good grace by the delta mec i have no idea. i do know that according to the judges ruling on the r.j.d.c. case comair's mec was required to be allowed to sit in...but as of months ago that had not happened yet. anyway the whole point is that...yes the comair mec has been sitting in with delta and according to friends still at comair the comair and delta mec are getting along ok.
as far as the min. line value debate continues....it has been alpa's stance to stop giving back to companies. we all have given plenty and the times are changing. no more givebacks...simple as that. if a company goes down...oh well. that is the unions stance. plain and simple. the company on the other hand only cares about the min line value due to flexibility and cost savings and they are counting on the union breaking down over this. dont let it happen. stay strong. work hard. do your job. get paid. if you get furloughed. keep your chin up.

We're too expensive!

Period.

That's correct. We're pretty much in the dark as to what's happening. Really the only inside info I have is that basically Delta has told us to return every 50 seater when the lease is up. That's fine and dandy, but there's no aircraft to replace them with. Our deal for the -900's was a one for one exchange with Bomabardier. We already sent them 14 50 seaters and then Delta renigs on the 14th -900. Comair employees are starting to take notice instead of blindly following along, which is good. The company has steadily been hacking away at back office positions since last December. The pilots and FA's are just now beggining to feel the effects of this constant bleeding from Delta. I'm surprised Delta didn't require a heck of a lot more cuts while we were in Ch.11 and gutted us like Mesaba was after their trip through Ch.11. All we hear from management is the constant sound of "we cost too much!" Now there is this so called holding company that Comair will be put under along side Compass and Mesaba. This is going to continue to unfold as the integration of the new Delta goes along. I do think that most of those furloughed will never be recalled. Unless there is some robust growth at Delta, there is just not enough routes to go around between all the DCI carriers.

thanks. i enjoy reading your posts. although they are just your opinion at least your posts have some substance. keep em coming. i like to know whats going on.
while everyone is speculating here is what i see:
comair, mesaba, and compass remain. obviously it looks like mesaba is going to pick up any new flying. i dont know why compass is not getting more except for the fact that they are trying to keep mesaba as a crj carrier and compass as a erj carrier and crj is where it is right now. plus once chataqua contract expires....give those erj 170 to comass. each will have its own dedicated base. mesaba mainly dtw and comass mainly minny. comair will take jfk. cincinnati will not close but be just big enough to be a small relief airport for other operations. eventually in 5 years...cincinnati will close. each carrier will have a small presence and base in the other three cities to allow whipsaw and minimal impact on strike possibilities. comair is going to go through what mesaba went through with the shrinking to nothing and then major growth. great idea on management's behalf. if you keep the three carriers seperate and grow them at different levels of seniority you can play them against each other. as one group's senority grows old. cut off growth and the pilots that can will move on. then when their pilot group is small grow them again. while that group is growing the other group gets mad and its pilots quit and move on. mesaba is the growth airline right now and comair is the **** the pilots off airline. compass is the in-between stage.
