I haven't heard anything from AW about the status of the pool since his last email, which was like a month ago. I had to email him a couple times to get a response and he finally said that they will keep the pool until recalls begin and the need to fill classes arises. Well obviously that's not gonna be tomorrow is it. I'm scared to email him again due to the recent news but I would think that you can only keep a pool for so long before at least re-interviewing. I'm not counting on ever getting called anyway and currently updating and sending out the ol' resume every time I fly.

Any of the old dudes at comair know if they have ever had a pool so long that they have had to cancel it or re-interview or whatever? Just curious.

Just a note as well: I'm not trying to be selfish by thinking of the hiring pool and hoping I'll get a job while people are losing theirs. I was very sad to hear that there could likely be another round of furlough's. Not because of my status in the pool but because of the baby and wife my brother is trying to take care of on 2nd yr comair pay. He'll be one of the first ones to go in the next round.

Been reading this thread since I thought I was hired in June, and it's almost been like torture reading some of the crap that has happened. All I can say is I hope everyone has a backup plan and I wish everyone the best in these crappy times.

It is with great disappointment that I must announce the recent news that I’ve learned. According to company officials, Comair will be furloughing more than the 206 brothers and sisters who have been placed on furlough as of today. While no satisfactory explanation has been offered for these furloughs, the company has shared that Comair will not be taking possession of its 14th CRJ-900 aircraft, as originally planned...

Default Up to 120 pilot furloughs

Up to 120 pilot furloughs: Downgrades and furloughs will begin in January and wrap up during the first quarter of 2009

Flight attendant part-time bid for January now open: The number of furloughs will be directly tied to how many flight attendants opt for part-time status. (For example, we currently have 150 part-time flight attendants. If the current bid nets similar numbers, we anticipate up to 40 flight attendant furloughs in February. More part-time flight attendants would mean fewer furloughs, and vice versa.)

Thumbs down Way to go ALPA/Comair

We anticipate a 3 percent reduction in block hours from December 2008 to January 2009. And in February, we will lose some of our pilot staffing flexibility with the expiration of the 2005 Letter Of Agreement. These projected January block hour reductions — along with the loss of certain company-offered leave of absence (COLA) provisions and the flexible minimum line value — is driving further reductions that bring us more in line with the original numbers we communicated.

"Iceburg strait ahead" This place is going down faster then the Titanic, I feel for all my friends that have given 10 years to find them selves downgraded with no where to go. I am lucky enough to get out with only 2 years under my belt. Comair pilots are great people I will miss them when I tell Comair to Kiss my A$$, I'm out.

Default To All Comair Pilots

Call your union rep and demand some action. We have been watching Comair shrink for the past few years without any action with real results from ALPA. All we hear is talk, talk, talk, but no action. The flight attendants group reached an agreement with the company. Call your rep and demand action now.

Good Luck to all.

This pilot group shouldn't concede any part of our contract to management. If the ship is going down, 76 hour flex line value isn't going to save it. Preserve the contract for when/if we reach better times.
