We already sent them 14 50 seaters and then Delta renigs on the 14th -900. Comair employees are starting to take notice instead of blindly following along, which is good. The company has steadily been hacking away at back office positions since last December. The pilots and FA's are just now beggining to feel the effects of this constant bleeding from Delta. I'm surprised Delta didn't require a heck of a lot more cuts while we were in Ch.11 and gutted us like Mesaba was after their trip through Ch.11. All we hear from management is the constant sound of "we cost too much!" Now there is this so called holding company that Comair will be put under along side Compass and Mesaba. This is going to continue to unfold as the integration of the new Delta goes along. I do think that most of those furloughed will never be recalled. Unless there is some robust growth at Delta, there is just not enough routes to go around between all the DCI carriers.
This last page of posts seems to hold thick information and I completely see it all. Do you have any idea how quick these leases expire? This explains the stickers in the windows of all of the planes in remote. Notice how two weeks ago there were as much as forty airplanes between remote and MTC with stickers in the windows. Now you see about 14 to 20 on any given day. These aircraft are dissappearing right from under our noses. Just funny how you have to drive by them to and from work everyday.

Like I said before to some of the guys getting furloughed, this situation is much different than the last time we furloughed. Last time we just parked airplanes and this time we are actually getting rid of airplanes. I am sorry to say this, but I agree that you may never receive a call back. I remember just a short time ago having a Mesaba FO of 8 years on the SAAB sit in the jumpseat. They only had one CRJ at the time. Two years later look at their fleet and look at their pilot group. How many SAABs do they have now and how many CRJs? Watch Comair shrink to 35 airplanes made up of 70s and 90s, and then start hiring brand new guys at an alarming rate to fill the ranks for new planes. Could be 5 years or more from now. Then Daddy D won't have to worry about this side of the house for another 10 years.

So... anyone else notice recurrent ground moves to 4pm class times as of December 1st? So much for going home after class.

Hahaha ... You are right, but a friend at XJT told me of a somewhat similar case with one of their guys who, for whatever reason, would not return them. After numerous unsuccessful attempts to get them back, somebody saw them for sale on eBay. They called the FBI and right away got their manuals back. So, whatever you do, don't put them up for sale on eBay!

Here's a new twist that came out of the meeting between Ed Bastian and the NWA pilots up in MSP. Delta will start making DCI carriers pay of their own fuel. I'm not sure as to if all DCI carriers or just the contract carriers (since DL will be paying for the w/o 'd fuel one way or the other) I called a friend at DCI and he did confirm that this is the plan, but he wouldn't give me the details.

We have 6 currently waiting to be returned to the leassor. All those are sitting over at the Heavy Mx Hangar. Eight are due to be returned next year. I think our leases are for a term of 10-15 years. I'd have to dig a little deeper to find out.

turbo dog the stickers are for ground crews and have nothing to do with what planes are being returned. they are not only on comair a/c but also on mesa and chataqua planes.

h46bubba can you dig into the history and find out how long the terms are on the planes comair has left? i know you said 10-15 years but from how many years ago did that start? so six this year and 8 more next year? thats roughly 140 pilots for sure gone with no recall until more a/c are added. ouch.

Quick math tells me that all of the original leases are expiring then. I am not sure what was re-leased during the BK and what the terms were though. SB did come into our recurrent class a little over a year ago though and basically told us this. Said we would all find ourselves ferrying aircraft off the property and back to the lessor when the leases were up. I use to think only 2% of what he said was believable, but I guess he is gaining credibility. We'll go with 3%.

So do we rebid our vacations now since everyone is moving around? Or is that not important because nobody will be around to get a paid vacation.

Isn't there something in our contract that says our fleet can't be reduced below pre-BK levels?

For those that don't get em..

I have the proposal if anyone really wants it.

Fellow Comair Pilots,

It is with shock and a total loss of respect for the Comair Management team that I write to you. Today Comair Management issued a memo that confirms the potential for an additional 120 furloughs in January 2009. These 120 additional furloughs would go back approximately to hires from December 2006.

This information is shared at a time when Management is touting completion percentage and performance numbers but yet is unable to substantiate its value and the value of the Comair team to their supervisors in Atlanta. Instead of making their own company successful our management's top people have put a business plan of counting on failure of another group their top priority. Comair has a wonderful employee group but a pitiful management group that will continue to hurt this airline if changes are not made in the initiatives we take. I tell you this not to get a rise out of you but so you will understand the issues at hand and make informed decisions about your future.

Your ALPA representatives continue to attempt to negotiate with management a plan that will address these future furloughs as well as our current furlough group. As addressed in the Chairman's email sent yesterday ALPA has presented the company with a mitigation plan which would save jobs. Regretfully the company management team is only interested in concessionary means which provides little relief for furloughed pilots.

As future information becomes available I will update you as soon as possible. I have attached for your review a copy of the August Mitigation Plan sent to the company and copied on the Chairman's email as well as company memos posted on EPIC regarding our future fleet and staffing plans.

If I can answer any additional questions please feel free to contact me.

Fraternally,

Michael Perrizo
