Beware of 2007 when they loose there exclusivity with Continental. That means that Continental can get another airline to fly the 50 seaters besides just expressjet. Let the whip-sawing begin...

Lately they have been hiring higher time guys with total time 1000+ and multi 200+. They like fast multi time too. I have 1200 and 130 multi but didnt meet what they were looking for. Another thing is if you have less time than 1000..you better be from ATP flight school. The word is that these 600TT and 100Multi time guys arent doing so well in training. Just coming from a couple of buds currently flying there.

Does anyone know how Colgan affects CoEx? Since Continental has an agreement to interview people from Colgan over anyone else. Does this at all hurt CoEx or will it in 2007?

I have no idea what you are talking about. People are already being hired from XJET outside of the preferential hires. Nothing Colgan does affects XJET at all other than strengthing our chances of sticking solo with CAL. CAL isnt so happy with Colgans perfomance.

Colgan has an agreement with CAL, not ExJet.

And RJ Pilot. When I said "cream of the crop" I meant a guy/gal who is on top of their game. (I'm sure you knew that) I guess what I should have said they take the 600 and 100 pilots who are top notch, saftey oriented, etc. at low time. The ones that they know can handle the upgrade from a Seminole to an ERJ. Sorry about the poor terminology...

Superpilot92,

Got a quick couple of questions about ExJet. From what I can tell with your comments, ExJet is the place to be. I have a buddy that is an Intern at IAH and says the same. How are the pilots you have flown with? Why should I fly for ExJet (what would you say that would 'sell' me on ExJet?) Sorry for some overzelous questions. I graduate in the spring, and I will be going to Ari Ben to do some time building, and then I will be putting out my Resume. Just looking for some insight from a line-holder.

Also, I may have an opportunity to get on with Colgan flying a Saab fresh out of Ari-Ben. Also with an opportunity to upgrade in about 15 months. At the age of 21, would it be adventagous to suck it up, fly for a regional like ExJet and sit FO for 3 years or more to then upgrade? What do you think?

Again, sorry for bombarding you with Q & A. But in advance, I really appreciate your input. Hope to hear from you. Happy holidays!

D

PS. To everyone else that has relevent insight, chime in...

To answer your ??'s, Personally i think its a great company and i havent flown with a single person that i didnt enjoy flying with. XJET works great for me because i am from Houston and this was the home town team for me so to speak. I was hired here with 1000 and about 210 multi. I also interned at XJET while i was in college. I have been very impressed with the operation so far. Scheduling works with you and management tries to make this place a good place to work. This is all in my opinion.

I also could have gone to Colgan or Great Lakes for the quick upgrade but i chose XJET mostly because its a good company and based in IAH. I am 24, Married with a 9 month old little boy so i really couldnt go out and make 15 bucks an hour at Lakes and Colgan probably wouldnt have been a bad job for the short term but i was hired in the middle of the hiring spree xjet had so it worked out pretty good. For me its all about QOL. And you can make pretty good cash here at xjet if you decide to hang around here. Do i want to stay here forever? No i want to move on to something bigger but this job fits great for me. To each his own.

Superpilot92,

I appreciate the quick reply. I talked with my folks about the matter and they said the ball is in my court. My dad has been in aviation since the 70's so he understands my predicament as a 'newbe.' ExJet is THE regional to be at from my bud's, your's and many others opinions. My targets to shoot for next summer are: Colgan, ExJet, and Air Whiskey. I hope to reach my goal and be as ready as I can be to take the 'next step' in my career by August. Anyway, thanks again for the input SP92! If anyone else would like to chime in, please do!

Not to get personal, and ask people what they make; but you mentioned you are in your first year. What can a first year FO at ExJet look to make vs. second year, and what would a first year CA be looking at?

I've looked at the pay rates on this site, but I realize other factors, such as flying over the guarantee, per diem, etc., factor into it, and most people make more than simply calculating the hourly pay and guarantee. Just curious.
