Express Deal Imminent
#31
I am still surprised how some Skywest folks are lovin' the fact that they may be putting hundreds of ExpressJet guys and gals on the street... seriously, what is wrong with you people
On a side note, non company specific; I was kinda thinking I would rather be the first guy furloughed versus the last. Logic being, the majority of the jobs will be gone. My first back-up plan is to go work for AirNet, the second being to deliver furniture for my buddy's father's business

And you can stop this how?
Oh............Yeah............you're SuperSaab. LOL
Saab I know you understand that you can't protect flying that isn't yours, much like XJT was defenseless when RAH came to town they will be defenseless when SKW or someone else rides in.
Don't take offense, it's just reality.

That said, I haven't been saying too much on here lately, because I've been trying to keep my mouth shut on whats going on. Saab has a very good idea, more so than I do, but I think he is trying to tell all of you something: It's probably best to tone it down. Remember the whole year and a half upgrade at RAH? That died down quick, Frontier, CAL and possible American reductions. This industry is changing so rapidly every day, it's best to sit back and just do our job, fly.

I'm kinda shocked to hear that come from you JetJock. Yeah, we know the flying isn't ours, but it still doesn't come off good to say that RAH and/or Skywest comes riding in. The only way to really feel good about losing our flying is if the main line guys get it. The whole reasoning being that pilots would have to start all over at year 1 pay. This of course should be great concern to all of us, since you can see how it would just bounce back and forth between regionals so the new contractor could have lower costs due to lower paid employees(year 1 pay).

When are you going to wake up and realize that we wish no such thing, it just seems like it because you’re stuck between a rock and a hard place which is causing you to blow everything posted on here WAY OUT OF PORPORTION!
Now, go back and reread ever posting about XJT for the last 12 months and this time pay attention. You’ll quickly find that only Slaphappy (there are bad apple in every bushel including XJT) is excited about your situation. The rest of us wish you no ill will and want only the best for all of you. Wake up man and take a long look around, we're actually on your side.
Seriously man, I'm truly getting sick of this XJT vs SKW thing!

No, you are not. I doubt you are voicing you're concern to SAPA or management extolling the virtues of XJT pilots and the need to take care of them. You are likely sitting back, staying quiet, and giving tacit approval to all this because it may work out to your favor and monetary benefit. Go walk an informational picket line with the XJT guys when it comes time if you care so much. Otherwise, stop pretending and just say you're sitting back watching like most others are.

the thing that irritates me is the feeling of entitlement that everyone seems to have to "their flying". and i'm talking everyone, at all the regionals. the world of business is a tough world, and the airline world is even tougher than that. the toughest survive (businesses, not pilots...we don't need arm wrestling matches here), and others don't last. the ones on top now might not be on top in the future, that's just the way it works.
having been specifically and purposefully screwed over by every single individual who went to work at gojets, when i was at trans states, i know when it's a personal decision to go against what is truly right. other than something like that, when the companies that we all work for make business decisions, good or bad, and then those decisions have consequences for us as employees, we have to live with it, good or bad. if (and this is just an "if", as i am in no way claiming any knowledge about the past) expressjet's management has made mistakes or not been tough enough in this business climate, and the company ends up getting bought by someone else, that is not the fault of the pilots working for the company that buys them, any more than it is the fault of the expressjet pilots.
and that being said, any company that gains or loses flying to another company is just winning or losing at business. it has nothing to do with the pilot groups purposefully screwing each other over. no one came to use and said, "skywest pilots, check this box if you want to be personally responsible for hundreds of pilots from another company losing their jobs". and no, the union vote wasn't that at all, so don't even start with that. the most irritating thing i've seen on this board recently has been a couple of people saying that it's skywest's pilot's fault for not voting in a union that expressjet pilots might be in bad shape if their company gets bought out. that is complete nonsense. if expressjet gets bought, that's the fault of expressjet management, no one else.
finally, i personally have not spoken to anyone at skywest that wants to buy expressjet anyway. skywest management thinks it's a good idea, and it must make good business sense strategically or they wouldn't be trying to do it, but none of us want to be a part of it. you pilots are lucky to have a say in the way things go down, due to the language in your contract that can kill the whole deal, so you are certainly responsible for your own fate. however, if we don't buy expressjet, after reading the current financial situation of expressjet, i am certainly worried about expressjet's future. i have several friends there and don't want to see them out of work in this tough climate. but then again, i don't want to be out of work either. again, the toughest businesses survive, and we'd all be lying if any of us (anyone from any airline) said that we didn't want ours to survive.
