skywest pilots that want skywest to buy expressjet
#31
by the way,
I could not understand why our management was interested in buying XJT. I tried to find any positive issues that would come out of such a deal and could not find any so I was not positive to it at all. That is why I questioned the deal and asked for opinions from others. I know that we as pilots do not have the "big picture" behind our management being interested in XJT but what I know is that with the limited info that is available for anyone out there the deal did not look good for Skywest at all..................

Come on guys it’s really not that difficult to see. By XJT staying independent, they can trim away branded and explore other options. Think about it, if they stay independent and close branded they furlough 400 and without branded they become a profitable operation....at least for now. Maybe they negotiate a cheaper CPA with CAL, maybe they don't. Time will tell.
As for why Skywest was interested.....NEWS FLASH. Delta and United are planning and will follow through on MAJOR cutbacks to their regional operations in the next 2 years. You skywest guys just don't understand that the two operators that you're flying for are planning to cut back the most on domestic regional ops. Man I'm sure you guys all feel so safe right now. Pick up a newspaper once in a while. SKYW is interested in XJT because they will need some other contracts and fast in the next year or so.

I completley understand what you're saying, but as far as I'm concerned my job isn't worth anything less than what I get now - so unless I we were going to get a deal that would somehow allow me to move left I'd rather dig a grave than be an FO for less, with less to look forward too.

Good point. But without AT LEAST a little bit of those two, you could end up flying a bigger airplane for the same money as the guy out the window next to you flying the smaller one.

You are the one who needs to read posts thoroughly before responding. If you had read my posts, you would know I don't work for XJT. I have been affiliated with SKW up close and personal and know that while JA is a great guy to talk to and hang out with, he is very deceitful. You and your fellow pilots try to play his short shaft to your group off by telling everyone how much better ya'll are. Right now that is true, SKW is well positioned. Remember, it has not always been this way and may not be in the future. Your own posts carry veiled threats about XJT balance sheets, finances, and if SKW doesn't "save" them then they are done in to a much worse fate with no hope. Sorry, your posts show your wishes of aquisition. Your pilot group is one of the most selfish, individually oriented groups around. That is fine. I am a big boy and understand most folks vote their individual interests over others. Just keep in mind that SKW pilots fortunes for fast seniority movement depends on aquisition as the overall regional market is shrinking. You and JetJock just can't be honest about it even though you obviously know it. So stop being hostile. I just expose the SKW BS, and as far as the XJT deal offer was, it was all BS. Good for the XJT guys, bad for ya'll. But at least Jerry only has 1 group to whipsaw you against now.
Good day and try to act like a professional. It will serve you well when you desire a better job.

wow. what a nice guy. and he doesn't even work for expressjet! making his whole fascination with this situation all the more puzzling. so i'll say it again and maybe he can read it here because i don't do private messages (i'm not afraid to talk in public): i don't want skywest to buy expressjet. me pointing out to expressjet people that they need to be more concerned with the financial situation of their own company than whining about skywest is only advice meant for them to make sure they have their eyes open, not threats, veiled or otherwise. i will also say this again: i have many friends and expressjet and wish them only the best, and for them to stay independent and prosper.
hopefully, since i for the 100th time or so, put all that in plain english, i can be spared anymore ridiculous misplaced diatribes. thanks for your time.

What???
Dont you know by now that Skywest can get CAL flying without buying XJT? Talk about not opening newspaper. CAL has already negotiated a contract with Skywest and Skywest has already the E-145 certificate from the FAA. It is not only Skywest that wants diversity. CAL is also looking for other operators for the regional lines as they also want diversity and not having to rely on just a couple of operators. What I know it was CAL that approached SKYW not the other way around. Buying XJT is taking responsability for them in the future and why do that? SKYW can get CAL flying without XJT.
Nothing negative against XJT. I wish them the best.
