There are no guarantees in employment anywhere -- least of all in this industry. You took a chance and things turned out bad. Yes, it sucks, but that's the way the cookie crumbles. Don't give up hope and keep trying. Something is bound to turn up if you look hard enough.

Cancelled a Brasilia class? That's weird.

I know Chip made some reference to reevaluating Pac Northwest flying, mostly done with the Brasilia. Curious if there is a connection. Who knows.

Yeah, there's about 20 of us in that boat. It really bites. It's been a b#$@$ to get a job , I'm resorting to a non flying job until skywest starts running classes. This time I'm not quitting my job until I'm boarding the plane for class!!!

Wow nuts. I got a buddy who just wrapped up bro IOE this week and I saw his July. Already filled with trips, and the 3 days he is on reserve, two of them he is the only guy for FAT (according to the list). There might be more as his class finishes up IOE.

The only reason I can assume the quick cancel to classes must be that the DL/UA schedules must be worst than they thought. My two cents.

Are you serious??!!! They give you 3 days notice? Wow. UHHn-believable. I'm so sorry....this industry is insane....

and Bus driver, that's good that you have a good, positive outlook on your current situation, but jeepers-creepers, talk about keeping a smile on your face as you chug that douche smoothie you've just been served. I'm sure others in the 7/7 BRO or the CRJ 7/14 class are still totally screwed even though they didn't burn the bridge with their previous employ.

As the co-founder of APC, I've been receiving plenty of Skywest updates. The problem is, the updates I've been getting on Skywest have been all over the place. From Hiring has frozen; Hiring; Hiring Brasilia classes only; to hiring CRJ pilots resuming in the fall. About to pull my hair out trying to decipher what is actually happening in St. George. For now we state only 'Hiring' because of the vast range of updates we're getting.

Any help is appreciated in getting the skinny out to the folks visiting the Skywest page. If you have some solid hiring info, email me at john_at_airlinepilotcentral.com. Hope to give everyone some accurate info, as always. Skywest is a very popular page at APC-

John

I know how you guys feel and I feel for you. Just be as positive as you can. I still have my old job and the AF Reserves to keep me paid. The only thing I can say is don't quit the previous job til you know the next one is a sure thing. I saw this coming a long time ago, so I was ready for the worst. Also I gave up two previous class dates cause my wife lost a baby, so I've had my share of heartache lately. The big man deals you the cards, you have to play your best hand. Be positive my brothers.

from Jetjock16 "BTW, you obviously know me…………………do I know you? If I do and I’m drawing a blank then forgive me, it’s 11:30 pm and my little girl finally went to bed."

Yeah, we spoke on the phone. No worries my friend. As you know, this industry is VERY cyclical and unfortunately this will be one of those deep valleys until oil goes back down. If the newbies get in at the bottom of this, they will be OK the next go around. We all love to fly and thats why we do this and put up with the BS of this industry.

Dont give up hope guys. It sucks and I feel for you but have faith that things will turn out.

We all have similar stories. I remember when my Pop got out of the AF and had a ground school date at SWA. He had signed off with the AF and was good to go when they called and cancelled his groundschool indefinately. It was a very tough time for him and he was second guessing his decision to go to SWA. He eventually got on and within the next few years they doubled their pilots. You never know what the future holds.

Good luck, have faith, and keep trying.

You're not hired until you have an emp and seniority number! Without it, the job 'offer' is worthless.
