Nope, you're not standing for anything, not even yourselves. That's the problem.

But be sure to drop a Thank You card in the mail for Parker for giving you this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

We can argue all day about numbers concerning who will be flying which fictional airplane 4 years after the first jet arrives. I was merely responding to a post about how the healthcare increase would be a net loss. The healthcare issue is about the least concerning issue of this LOA.

What percentage of your premiums do the pilots currently pay? And how much is the premium for your top plan?

I think we are right around 15-16% of cost which equates to about $227 a month for a family of 4+ on the PPO plan, or about $86 a month for an individual.

So the most this would increase your healthcare costs is about $3000/year if you were on the family PPO coverage. That equates to about $2-3/hr. The jet rates give a much higher raise than $2-3/hr for CA even with a 12 vs 25 year scale. The F/Os break about even.

By my calculation, you need at least $4.04/hr increase just to break even.

I thought my calculation was conservative at 1000 hours of block a year. And keep in mind this is for a family of 4+. For an individual, it would be a 3rd of that, and a couple about half.

By my calculations, you need a job to even qualify to pay for a certain percentage of the healthcare cost.

Isn't that what PDT is worried about? PDT only has 350 pilots with 25 year old props. They can be replaced in a month without a hiccup in the system. The threat worked against PSA, but I think it'll work even better on PDT. There's a reason why PDT is the last to be approached by the new AA. "Throw us a bone AA!" That's what my friend at PDT said about the general sentiments over there. Either way I wish you guys the best. Met some very nice crew DHing or jumpseating on PDT.

The gaping flaw in your calculation is that you're comparing apples to oranges. Turboprop rates to jet rates. You should be benchmarking your proposed 70+ seat rates to others across the industry. Are your labor and skill sets not equally valuable to those of everyone else?

227 a month for a family of 4.

Here I pay $220 a month for me and my wife on the PPO plan. That price will be going up every year. FOs won't break even at 35%...
