I signed up for the program and am just gonna wait for dhc8 ca or to be displaced to the jet.

Yeah, but I'd rather not be locked in to the dash as an FO for 12 months if I can hold erj ca now. Dash would be best with the incentive if I could get ca spot.

When were you hired? I was hired early this year and cannot hold ERJ Captain. I could have held Dash Captain 2 weeks after i started and didn't bid it, so we will have to see how this announcement changes other pilot's bidding strategies. Out of the handful of people i have spoken to, most with the seniority to hold jet Captain still intend on bidding it. Coupled with the number of bypassed FOs who will now get their chance to switch seats as new ERJ FOs come online, I don't think someone hired this year will get into a jet captain seat within a few months and the most junior jet captain who did get awarded it at 6 months seniority simply got lucky.

Just my opinion, and I am wrong often, so go with your gut and bid for the position you want!

Oh yeah, I was basing it on a guy who got hired after me earlier this year who is jet ca. Oh well, at least I have a couple weeks to decide ha.

Isn't PDT just swapping Dash's for 145's?

I am not sure why people would think that there will be fast upgrades. Especially when there are quite a few FO's on property that are able to upgrade now, or will be hitting 1000 hours soon. It is just a gimmick to try to get people to go to PDT.

PDT may grow in the future, but not now.

More than swapping. More planes coming in than going out. Going to get even more jets per month in January but also will increase dash retirements. There is growth, may not be huge growth now, but we are increasing pilots and airplanes.

daOldMan has been discredited so many times on these boards. I don't know why anyone listens to him or bothers to respond.

Are new hire pilots going directly to the left seat? That is what you are promising, isn't it?

There's a guy in my upgrade class (Sep. 19) that was hired in April. He finished FO SOE and immediately went into upgrade. Our status quo requires that Piedmont pilots be a qualified FO before they upgrade, but yeah you can upgrade whenever you feel like it right now if you have the time.

daoldman strategy: Blindly throw out false information and see if it sticks. Occasionally frame said false information as a question so you don't seem as dumb when you get called on your bs.

The Dash has a DEC program, jet will soon follow

Since when do they have a DEC program for the dash? Our instructor is telling us we can't bid for upgrade until after SOE.
