I've read discussions about how Aero and IFR are emphasized but haven't seen much about the Weight and Balance section or any of the other sections. Has anyone had any Weight and Balance Questions recently? Also, outside of flight school and some recreational GA flying, all of my flight experience has been as a Marine helicopter pilot and civy EMS helicopter pilot. If anyone has any gouge on the challenges of making the transition from rotary to fixed-wing, I'm all ears. Better yet, if you are one of the folks in the Military Transition Program please take a moment to stop in and share your experiences.

Thanks,

The interview has no weight and balance stuff. Very little weather stuff on the written test but you will be required to decode a METAR from hell. and then brief and discuss a Jepp approach and Jepp airport diagram.

Oh and no real amount of FAR stuff other than things you should already know, i.e. there is nothing about the number of FA's required or anything.

My thoughts exactly, I wouldn't want to be at any other regional right now. ~250 FW time, Military Transition Program will provide the rest It's hard to believe how great the opportunities are right now to get into flying part 121, especially after watching friends deal with furloughs and slow career progression in the years following 9/11.

What happens at the end of the CPaT systems training?

Surely there must be more questions to answer than the few at the end of each sub-section?

Anyone got to an exam yet? How many questions?

It's a time management thing - if it takes 5 hours to do the test, I need to send the kids out the door for half a day!

You're not joking. this place really has done a 180 in a few years. Looking back how I was furloughed for 10 months. Sat As a fo on a rsv for almost 2 years w no upgrade in sight. And now today I get to fly w new guys and say w conviction "I am so happy for you all who are here right now. You will never have to sit a day of rsv and upgrade when you have the time. Ya lucky sob!!" I flew w a lot of heli pilots on the dash, all great sticks and answered all my questions, which were many. Only heli I fly is the ones I thumb into the ground and have to repair before next flight. I'm sure you will be fine w interview!

No final exam - only the few questions at the end of each section.

The CPAT is just to teach you systems. The real exam is at the end of groundschool systems training. CPAT questions are just to ensure you were watching it and not reading a book while they stoned on in the background

It's to your benefit to absorb as much as you can

Absorb as much as you can but also know that systems class is basically going through the entire Cpat from start to finish again.

Exactly. Not saying you shouldn't pay attention, but I wouldn't be killing myself on the home portion - unless you have serious difficulty retaining info. You will go through the entire CPAT again😒

Everyone has told me doing a jet type rating - systems ground school is firehose drinking. I started the CPAT - didn't seem that bad - am I missing something. Being a 20 yr old design transport category plane, I would think the systems would be byzantine, if anything.

AQP training is very different from what I've done on the same plane back in 2006. The depth of knowledge we had to have back then was a fire hose. Didn't have that feeling in ground school this time around. Maybe I remember a lot of it from back then. I don't know. Just my .02
