Its a personal decision. If you want to fly the Dash it's a great opportunity especially with the incentive and extra bases. If the only reason is to fly a little sooner it won't be that big of a difference. I'm on the jet so I would talk to some Dash guys and get the scoop on the schedules, bases, training, etc.

This program specifically mentions the summer. It might be well and good for those few months but what about after? Could you even hold philly? What about a line? Would you be happy in reserve in Roanoke?

I second this. If you're in the pipeline for the jet you'd be a fool to not stay on it. Especially if you want philly.

Hey
Sooooo. If I wanted to flow to AA would I want the absolute soonest class? Or wait for approx 50+ bodies to be in front of me.
That's a year of flow at current rates. If I could jump a class or two. I would be all over it regardless of airframe. Seniority rules. Play the long game in this biz.
Good luck

^ Agreed and Agreed. We will all be on the jet within 18 months. So why not take the 2 months of senority, extra type, and extra money in the process.

Looks like I will be joining the PDT team!
For those of you who are prospective candidates, do your best to prepare and be yourself. It was a great interview. Study the Sheppard air program for the written, know the ins and outs of a metar, Jeppesen approach plates and 10-9. Having a great knowledge of all the IFR "Gotchas" will be helpful as well.
I'm really looking forward to this. I asked for the EMB-145 as the recruiter (who was a dash guy) basically said they were hiring for the EMB-145 exclusively unless you specifically requested the Dash-8.

What on earth is going on with our planning? More than half of PHL DHC8 Captains and FOs on reserve for March but we are offering premium pay (triple and double respectively) and now an announcement that we need MORE dash 8 pilots????
Someone smarter than me wanna explain why a seemingly overstaffed category is being treated as though its woefully understaffed?
