Here is the truth to the story and I think pilots hate to admit to this. Anybody, if they really wanted to be, is capable of being a pilot. You are not that special, not that talented and yes, not even that smart that anybody walking around on the street today couldn't do your job. So if you wanted to make money, why are you a pilot?

seriously, you have been involved in 121 flying for less than 1 year, you got hired with LESS THAN 20 multi time.....stick around a few thousand more hours/years and upgrade, experience what your responsibilities are, then tell me how many average citizens could shoot a single engine NDB approach in a snow squall, and how fairly you are compensated for it vs what your management tries to take away from you on a daily basis...

When you work as hard as all the rest of us to get to this point you just MIGHT understand that.
Oh yes, when all else fails resort to the personal attacks. Before I entered this business I did my research, I knew what I was getting into, that is why I try my best not to complain.

Your passing judgment on me and how hard I had to work to get where I am now would be like me making just assuming that you went to some big Jet University with Mommy and Daddy's money and soon after graduating, without one hour of dual given, were lucky enough to get scooped up by some desperate Regional in the peak of the hiring boom. However, I will give you the benefit of the doubt and reserve judgment. If you'd like to know my true story I'd be glad to compare stories of how we got to where we are now.

Girl at bar: What do you do with your free time?

I visit online forums

Girl: Oh...do you discuss books or other intellectual pursuits?

Nope, I just bash others using a third grade vocabulary, interspersed with profanity and pervaded by close-minded selfishness.

Oh wait, none of us admit to anybody how much time we actually spend on here....maybe we should get lives

One of the most perceptive posts I have read in two years.

You don't think really think that you are that good that any person of average intelligence couldn't be properly trained to do your job? Really, you probably aren't as good, as smart nor as talented as you think you are. Congratulations on your single engine NDB approach though.

I will not take back what I said about your horrible attitude. I will hold firm to the fact that your attitude is the reason we currently have these low wages and are disrespected by management. You come off as very ignorant and I am honestly surprised you are in the industry. I am sorry if I offended you but I do take it personally when you say pilots (which includes me) are not smart, talented or special. You are asking to be attacked for your comments. As long as we have that attitude we will not get the respect we deserve from management.

I have no desire to compare stories. I hate playing that game. Just man up and stop being a part of the problem and start being a part of the solution.

Now lets get back to the subject... Mesaba getting those 15 additional 900s! That's really exciting.

Congratulations. This is your most readable post so far. Truthfully, your posts seem to be flame bait. Without demeaning every pilot and all the pilot groups in one post, what was your point? If you will be more courteous, you will find that pilots will generally be more courteous in their responses. Go back and reread what you wrote. Taking you at your word that you are a pilot, I doubt you would be so discourteous in expressing yourself on a 4-day. I don't think you would talk that way in the crew room. Maybe you could restate your original opinion and see if you get less harsh replies. If you will make an effort, I will do the same.

Yes, he sure did resort to personal attacks. Woops

I think it's pretty cool that Delta picked Mesaba to operate the additional 15 900's. Mesaba must be doing something right. I hope Mesaba pilots feel really lucky/blessed for being there right now. They are moving in the right direction at the moment.
