Mesa TA passes
#22
I bought 300 shares of mesa stock!!! I would to if I were you, I know JO will all of a sudden pull lots of money out a$$ and mesa will be doing just fine for the next two years (until Sept 2010). When the last TA passed in May of 03 Mesa stock was at 3 bucks and within a month was over 12 and JO bought him self a new Bentley. I know lots of people are spelling the doom and gloom for Mesa but that's what JO wants you to believe, mark my words the bonds will get renegotiated and mesa will be making money once again JO probably had this planned out all along.

Being that I havent followed this very closely, what specifically made this TA so bad? Or even better what was left out of it that would have made it acceptable?

-Pay raise
-Trip/duty rigs
-Countless work rules
Put in:
-PBS (read: concession)
-Certificate lock
-Check in prior to trips
-no more pay override for picking up open time
That's only a few.

Does this mean all the Mesa bashing was/will be justified? This should have been at least a 90% no. I'm not really surprised though, this just confirms the downward spiral of the industry with Mesa leading the way. I don't know if JO wasn't willing to give them a good contract this time why 2 years from now? Very sad day for us who want to raise the industry standards. I can only imagine how JO must be feeling right now.

Thanks for keeping the bar low to those guys that voted yes!!! Sure will help us hold the line over here at 9E in our ongoing negotiations (we've actually had the cahones to keep pushing "NO" 4 years rather than accept crap)...way to keep the industry average compensation low on the RJ fellas!! Ya know, wouldn't wanna get a raise or anything, since inflation is only what....3% per year. Hell I'll just buy lotto tickets to cover that!!!...also, now when other regionals try to negotiate an "industry average" payrate on the RJ, we won't have to do all that complicated math to calculate in the change in industry average caused by a raise at Mesa...keep things simple--don't change the payrate and no math or new complicated graphs required in negotiations!!! Awesome!!!! You guys just saved 9E management lots of brainwork!!!
To those of you who voted no...thank you for your efforts...I know you'll leave the next chance you get, and I hope one day there is an opportunity for that to happen...I will gladly walk in your resume at 9E if we ever hire again or get a contract of our own...we'll try to actually get a raise over here so you might have a good place to come to if Mesa goes under in the next year anyways...

ARRRGGGGHHHH only 18 votes!!!
I finally convinced my captain this month to vote no but as of yesterday he hadn't voted yet because all the paperwork for login was still at home. He thought he wouldn't need to vote because it would be a landslide NO.
Jeeez.
You are right on there Rickair. Out of those 418 pilots most are lacking in the manly department they will tell you they voted NO because they are embarrassed that they actually voted YES.
To the 418: "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?"
I'll tell you what, I just jope ALPA does a much better job for the pilot group in 2 years time and that I'm not here to see the results. They really will have to negotiate a top of the industry contract to make up for the last 2 loads of trash.
I'm just really disappointed in my Mesa colleagues that voted YES. You had a chance and you blew it. Now I guess we just have to get on with making this new contract work to our best advantage possible.
Remind me again when do I need to tell the captain to release the brake to start block? Oh yeah just before I go out to do walk around.
