They can use spoilers - they just don't want to.

Call it a pride/ego thing; with proper descent planning you shouldn't NEED to use spoilers and with the new flap speeds its becoming increasingly more necessary.

Does this limitation only apply to the 100/200 ?

The Bombardier limits on the -900 are:

1 - 230
8 - 230
20- 220

The placard reads "Do not select flaps 8 or 20 above 200kts." Or something like that.

Once you have put the flaps in, and the motor stops, you can accelerate up to 230kts.

I thought it was accelerate to 215 after they're down?

What's the deal with all the CRJ 200 operators? Are you guys noticing placards below the flap lever saying 8 and 20 are not to be put down above 200kts? I just randomly noticed this new placard about 2-3 weeks ago. It's a pain in the neck when I'm trying to use the anti-ice and slow down on an approach. Ore even out of icing conditions - we get slowed to 210kts a lot, and I like to drop flaps 8 in that time. At first I thought it would be just like one or two 200's, but now all of them I have flown have the placards. I don't even recall seeing a memo about this.

Discuss.
Whats up with the putting the statement or question out there and then the next line says "discuss"? Just state the question or make the statement. People will then respond if they want to. The " Discuss" line is ridiculous.

I regards to your question, the 200 has flap issues. Restricting to 200 KIAS is expected to reduce the number of FLAPS FAIL problems.

Slow to 200, extend the flaps to 20, then speed back up to 210. ATC will never know the difference. I do this on a regular basis in ATL.

You do not have to turn the hydraulics on. The gear might on RARE OCCASIONS deploy slowly but I have never seen it and I have thrown the gear out many many times at 250 KIAS.

The B pumps on with flaps out of zero have nothing to do with the gear doors.

Seriously? A GD message scared you? You had a Holy Crap Moment? I hope you never have a real problem in flight.
