Atleast (unlike our comair friends)....you can still keep your number at asa..while working for someone else. So does this end ASA's no furlough streak..because its voluntary? or is it still intact? should be interesting in the weeks to come

Streak's over, by my counting. An F is an F, right?

Very few people are going to take them also, seeing as its projected to be until Q1 2010....

That email is so stupid! Why the crap would someone volunteer to be furloughed if you could just get a COMA line and keep your flight benefits. I'm not even sure what the difference between the two is. So basically it's a please leave or we will boot you anyway. That's real shady if you ask me. Now I can see where some guys were frustrated that they don't just furlough. Who the heck is just going to volunteer to be furloughed when they had all that time to take a LOA or COMA and still could? A really poorly intended email if you ask me. C'mon dude!

I'm surprised Inc hasn't brought voluntary Furloughs (or at least a decent leave package) to SkyWest...It wouldn't technically be furloughing...

One option I wanted to see, but never materialized: half-value lines.. off for the first or second half of the month. Stay current, Stay home, collect half the pay.

I would have jumped for that. Nearly jumped for the COMA at one point, but realized first year FO pay would not save the company any money. They're after the very senior guys.. who don't seem to be biting the bait.

My christmas spirit just got flushed.

I went back to school this semester to finish the degree...begged and pleaded for the three months off, but they wouldn't bite. Meanwhile they were sending weekly emails requesting Pilots to take leave??

I was fully-prepared to go without the pay, but they insisted on sending me a check every two weeks LoL. But it worked out...and by the way, commuting from a full-time class schedule to a full-time job 1000 miles away is no way to stay sane...
