ALPA could help. And I mean "ALPA with a capital A" (national) not the MEC.

All of this race for the bottom stuff could be fixed with a little unity and cooperation between the legacy pilots and regional pilots. But instead, we continue to in fight while management picks our pockets.

One List and brand scope would have prevented this.

Instead, ALPA once again forgets history, and allows another Lorenzo to pillage the industry. Except this time they really don't care, because Lorenzo is going after the regionals, not them... for now.

ASA's costs are higher than SKYW, and in the case of the 900, considerably!

Hellooooooooooooo ALPA? Where are you?
Pinnacle's not hiring and rumors of downgrades have started over there. I agree with you with the trying to eliminate the high paying airlines. For ASA to get growth we would have to reduce cost. Being the highest paid regional airline in the industry has its price. Reference the fall of XJET. I'm making about $10,000 more a year 2nd yr on the 700 than a Mesaba 2nd yr FO on the 900.

The one thing Skywest Inc does have going is TONS of money in the bank allowing us to pretty much outlast any other regional.

Two Questions:
1.) What is the percentage of an airlines expences that is made up of pilot salaries???? I heard its like 6%??? By kicking a pilot group with threats it causes us to work harder to protect ourselves. Are we proactive as a whole or reactive???

2.) As Far as APLA national goes......Is the salary that Praterand his band of evil elves get paid effected by the loss of membership or the lowering of our wages. When this starts to happen then they will take notice!!!!!!!!

Perhaps, but remember that the majority of our flying is comparably priced.

I've heard labor has always been an airline greatest expense, until recently when fuel exceed labor. With the drop in fuel prices I believe its back to labor again.

This is a fairly recent Hofstra study, before the surge of oil and probably doesn't take into account a lot of the bankruptcy concessions. But it gives a good idea of what the cost breakdown is. It mashes together fuel and labor into one category, but according to the ATA Labor is by far the highest expense to an airline. Let's not forget it's not just us, it's ground employees, gate agents, ticket agents etc.

I thought the rule was that 80% of ASA's flying had to be Delta Connection, not the other way around. Am I wrong?
