Whats the sense in keeping people about for an entire 1+ yr with more cuts on the way from DL. Im call 1st (that it really matters at this point) and I have flown 1 stand up since the middle of november. Enough already. Have some balls already and pull the trigger or come out and say specifically we will not furlough.
I don't think it has anything to do with having balls or not. They obviously don't want to furlough. They have had the best reason to for some time and are holding out for some reason. I trust that they are waiting until they can't wait any longer. We heard grumblings of united flying earlier this summer and perhaps they have been waiting to hear on that. If we do furlough, that means that nothing is in the works. I'm confident that current management values management/pilot relationships and is trying to maintain a good one.

I talked to a few ppl in the 70, the RES guys there seem to get a lot more flying then the 50 guys. I get the impression that the 70 side is not as overstaffed as the 50. Could be why most of the COMA awards is on the 50 side. If that is true then we are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Since the 50 guys can't just jump into the 70 to fill in (w/o the company paying for them to get trained) and the 70 is more senior and pays more. (the very people the would save my butt the most if they wanted a COMA)

Carefull what you wish for... There is really no place to go. Even most flight schools are not looking for CFIs. Though I think I get your message, "just tell us what is going on ASA!" I agree the lack of knowing what is going is making financial choices at home hard.

I meant it figuratively speaking. They could have a while ago, I understand that but the projection is getting worse. BH said earlier this week "we experienced significant cuts this past year and next years projection looks much the same." The week earlier he said ASA was in meetings all week with delta about our future. Aside from Mesa going away unexpectedly, doesn't the earliest united express contract terminate in dec 09? I just think that everyone at the bottom of the list is expecting it at this point because of rgt rumors, reading in between the lines of the company kool aid and future DL cuts. Wouldn't you rather know one way or another?

In no way do I want to leave the company, I have enjoyed being at work completely. But if it's going to happen, it will and we cant control it. I think we all would like ASA to be a little more up front about things

Kind of weird that those are the exact words in ASA's clause. Circumstances in which the company has no control will NOT include "the state of the economy". Right from the contract.

Im not sure I understand your frustration. So you would rather have to figure out where your next paycheck is going to come from in a time where jobs are scarce then have someone pay you each month to sit around and just look for a job on the companies dime. Man you are in a better place then me. I have these little things called "bills" and it's up to me to pay them. Yup, I'd rather be paid to do nothing and make my real money on the side with something construtive. I guess I'm the only one.

My frustration is with flying 5 hours a month. Last time I checked, 1st year pay with no per diem and guarantee isn't the ton of money to sit on your @ss you are making it out to be
