American Eagle will be at a career fair on the 17th in MIA. I don’t know if that’s to hire or just to take resumes. I don’t expect us to hire until spring or midsummer.

AE won't be hiring anytime soon. Word is that over 21 staff/instructors (mostly jet instructors) at the schoolhouse are back out flying the line, and they were told not to plan on being able to try and get back until Fall.

I'm told the company's advanced booking are way way... way down from prior years and they are in panic mode down in the Crystal Palace.

Eagle is nice enough to remember their new hire/poolies who took the jet training course to send them a Misc-1099 form for the $10G's they spent on the course that got us, and them, no where.

No letter to go with it, just the form. Thanks...

Here's something that sucks about that jet training course...some of the people who went to the one school (not FlightSafety) received a $5000 check from the school. So they actually made $5,000 on that course (apparently they were charging Eagle $10,000 for the course when it only cost $5,000 and then turning the balance over to the students). So at least they have some money to pay the taxes on that lovely 1099-MISC that surely will be in the mail.

Can't wait to get mine! Wish I had the bonus money.

Those mins seem really low. I figured they could get plenty of applicants with mins at 1500/200.

At any rate, I heard from HR that June/July is the earliest Eagle will hire. But as always, that can change over night.

I wouldn't count on any hiring this year with the latest announcements of capacity cuts for 2009.

Were the capacity cuts just a general statement or have they decided what they are going to cut.

Nothing specific.... 9% @ AA and 10% at Eagle.

AMR is also reducing its 2009 capacity more than it had previously announced. Total passenger capacity on American Airlines will drop by nearly 9 percent during the first quarter, which American Eagle's capacity will be slashed by nearly 10 percent
