Eagle to resume hiring
#51
I know, hence the ... 98% of the eagle crews have been stellar to jumpseat with. There has been the 2%, I have also run into them at our airline, UAL, and NWA, and even SWA.....
I could be miserable, however it is a state of mind. I am in m mid 30s, have been here for 10 years and fly wide-bodies. I see so many of my peers furloughed, or having to fly overseas, or flying at a less than desirable supplemental company. Could it be better, sure, it could also be a lot worse. It puts it all into perspective.
I do not like the thought of Eagle flying bigger jets, and I will strike over it. I do believe to a point we need feed, however I would like to see that feed flown by someone on the AA seniority list ( it is time to get one list together). We do have more in common than not, and will face bigger challenges in the future. It would be in our best interest to fight them together.
Cheers,
AA

My Experience with AA
So there I was, in my Eagle uniform trying to hitch a ride to work from SNA to DFW... flight packed as usual. The captain is at the gate printing his release and sees me. He summoned me over to him and asks if I'm trying to get to work. I said yes. He then took a piece of paper and wrote down his cell phone number. He said, "if they tell you there's no room, you call me and I'll come up here. I don't leave with an empty jump seat."
Wow!
I too have had crews share meals with me. I have NEVER and I mean NEVER been treated as anything less an equal by AA crews... and I've been in their cockpits about two-hundred times in the past five years, maybe more.
Thank you AA crews!!!

Its cool that the captain gave you his number so you could call him! It keeps the gate agent from trying the god-complex routine!

Not to start a topic as to get flamed ()
But isn't the AA captains giving Eagle pilots rides in stark contrast to regional airline crews denying GoJet people jumpseats? Mainline pilots watch their jobs get taken away, and still treat fellow pilots with grace and class. Kudos
I don't want a lecture on scabs and alter-ego airlines, I've read the all the threads. I don't work for GoJet, nor do I ever plan to, but I'm just sayin.

Back to the real reason for this particular forum.
American Eagle will be at a career fair on the 17th in MIA. I don’t know if that’s to hire or just to take resumes. I don’t expect us to hire until spring or midsummer.
It will be for attrition only unless APA sells scope. Sorry AAflyer just a jab and reminder I don’t want to fly a bigger airplane for less.
Aeroservice Career Fair
Good luck folks

Im in the pool. If Eagle was to hire I would have received a phone call. After that I would post something on this thread saying that eagle is hiring. Although before I get the phone call Im pretty sure all the employees of eagle will be informed of the hiring and probably will post before I can get to it.
On the other hand, whenever they start hiring, if they increase their minimums (which who knows, but most likely they will) are the people in the pool going to be responsible for meeting these minimums?
Just asking because what if some of these hired people back in april did not get a flying job and have not flown since then?
Just wondering
P.S. off topic but, great job by the A320 crew today putting it down in the Hudson.

If your in the pool, I'd imagine another sim ride of some sort and another check with the FAA probably? someone with more experience might know.
And not to get back on the AA topic. Everytime I used to jumpseat on AA they treated me like one of their own. And that includes getting meals. Nothing but professional treatment from AA crews.

There was one Captain in particular I had a chat with a few months back that flew for AA. I am a dumb fueler who lives in HNL and was totally impressed with how this guy took the time to give me a few pointers while getting ready to depart to DFW. I will probably never see this Captain again but he left a lasting impression on me. There are some cool cats out there that work in the industry.
