Juice its not a stab at F.O.'s by any means... I always say that the first officers job is to make sure the guy in the left seat doesn't kill him

On the contrary when someone makes it seem like a 1900 captain is inferior to an MD11 F.O. then I have an issue

Default Getting hired in todays setting

I decided to give the regionals a try in 2006. I talked to a rep at Mesa Airlines and I told him I had about 1350 TT, 45 Multi and 89 hours turbine in bell 206’s. He said that I needed more multi time but he could substitute the turbine time for the rest of the multi I needed. However, I ended up finishing my B.S. at Embry Riddle which I finished a couple months ago so I never took it any further.
Now the job market is a little different but I was wondering if some airlines would substitute helicopter turbine time for some needed multi time. Does anyone have the pulse on hiring now?
Thanks

I problem is you are too low on both sides for it to matter. Your multi time is too low right now and your helicopter turbine time is too low for it even to count. Bascially, even if you were to find 1) An airline that is hiring 2) Someone willing to give you all 89 hours towards your multi, you would still only have 134 multi which is way too low in this competitive market.

Plus how do you figure helicopter time should count as multi time for a regional. I know some majors give half time credit but your issue will be only having 45 hours in a multi.

Instruct and build more time and be ready for the next hiring spree.

Not trying to be mean, just telling you how it is.

I second what Juice said ...

You're looking to get a job in a market right now that has hundreds of over qualified pilots on the streets. Of those pilots, most have well over the minimum requirements. There are a few that were hired with the low times and still have <1,000TT I presume, but I'm assuming that most have what ALL regional airline desire ... 121 turbine time.

Right now I would recommend you get about a year or so of instructing under your belt. It will build your hours and your experience/confidence level more than you know. I would say 75% of us on here were instructors at one point and most of those still have a current CFI. I keep mine current just because I like to keep fresh on things. That and I'd like to have SOMETHING to fall on in case I get the boot Not trying to discourage you, just trying to give you some helpful advice!

Thats about what I was thinking. I was offered right set job on a king air about 2 years ago once the companys FO leaves for a Airline. That person in front of me is still there as a FO when most just hang around 6 months to a year. I guess some people now aren't moving up to let others in. The captians of the company thought that person would have left a long time ago and theres not many other small operations like that in my area. CFI here I come.

How about spell checks?

I bet you a simple spell check could weed out some 80% of the applicants (myself included)... What do you think?

easy...find a 135 King Air operator who's ops specs require an SIC. Pass a 135 SIC checkride. Then put the time in your SIC column.
