Now...
Will this happen before or after the summer? With the increased flying during the summer season would it make sense to wait til' September?
Why don't they just displace NY FOs to Dallas ATR?

ATR staffing is a mess right now but there are still at least 20 FO's and 20 CA's that haven't finished training. I have been saying for at least the last 3 weeks that I thought furloughs were going to be coming soon. ATR reliability is waaay down (thanks to a few CAs that write up ridiculous crap). One ATR had 5 air interrupts in a week (DFW ATR guys know what I'm talking about). I think ATR block hours in DFW are going to be cut because it hasn't been as reliable in DFW as it is in SJU and MIA. Some of the write-ups are legit and others are just pure BS. That's my .02.

If the Captian can write it up, he has a responsibility to do so. We have gotten so used to "failed in flight" that we are losing sight of what should be done. I flew with said captain and every write-up while trivial was definitely legit. If it is nothing then maintenance will close with a "noted" or something like that. If we don't write all these little things up they add up to make a day's worth of maintenance. Not to mention the lives put to risk for some of these write-ups. I don't want to start a fight in any means, just stating my perspective on passenger safety. I hope all ends well with this "imminent furlough".

I don't think I worded my thoughts correctly. SOME write-ups put lives a risk, some put your cert. at risk. Window shades are a perfect example. Have to be written up, but wouldn't hurt anybody to leave it broke. Blame the FAA not the crew. They were doing what was necessary to stay out of trouble. Sorry I didn't word that correctly, my bad. They are silly write-ups in the end.

440 flipped out on me last night during the landing rollout. It's getting bad. Be safe.
