I've had days like that when I worked at Republic. I called scheduling asking for a hotel room to be told no due to not originally being scheduled for a seven hour sit. This post just reminded me of why I quit Republic. I now make more money as a second year first officer than I did as a fifth year captain at Republic, and I have all of the stuff you want. Unfortunately, I commute now so I did give up something.

If hockeypilot had a 7 hour sit it's his own fault for not making the company abide by the contract. 5 is the max.
Then there's always that mighty fatigue. If you're too afraid to use that word you shouldn't be flying for an airline. |

Then there's always that mighty fatigue. If you're too afraid to use that word you shouldn't be flying for an airline. I flew the trip, grieved it, and lost. I wasn't even offered a settlement. I used the fatigue word three times at Republic. Unfortunately, if I used it every time I actually felt fatigued, I would have been using it 2-3 times per month. |
I could care lees if yall hate people for paying to fly. I dont have any loans, my In-Laws paid the whole thing for me. By the way do you look at people that got jobs at Southwest, that had to PAY for their Type the same way. Cause I paid for that too.
|
Southwest will hire with or without the type. You have to get it prior to class. If you look at the first year pay at Continental and United you'll realize you'll make that money back in a few months.
At no point are you paying for your job, you're not giving Southwest the money for the right to work like Gulfstream does. Keep using whatever you must to justify it. The majority can't stand people that buy their way in. Especially when they do it with a silver spoon as you did. By the way, it's "paid". |
