We're all God's piloting gift to earth and we would never make any assumption/decisions/posts without reading everything that would lead up to said decision

Sorry, I was just trying to put some facts out there. Feel free to ignore them.

Good information, I am curious as to ALPAs official stance on everything else brought up in the forum i.e. requiring the ATP

I don't know what their stance on that is. I just know ALPA's testimony before the House and the Senate, which I posted several times. Seems like this may have come about in the lobbying by ALPA considering their testimony in the need for stronger academic emphasis. I still would like to see more stringent requirements to attain an ATP though like they mentioned in the testimony.

I agree, this is an interesting point.

I wonder how this would effect the enrollment / educational tracks / cirriculum, etc., at places like WMU / UND / ERAU / Other 141 training giants?

Imagine, they can no longer say, "All you need is 250 hours and we can get you a job."

They will say, "We will get you your certificates, then it's up to you to be dedicated and get some time under your belt."

It looks like this is going to be a bit of a battle to push this through and it would be good to know where the unions stand.

The pilot mills, RAA and to a lesser extent mainline (ATA) will not want this to go through.

I think for the most part pilots want this and hopefully the unions will too.

This just means it is up to everyone that wants this to contact their sens/reps and let them know how they feel. Also informing the general public does amazing things. When I tell ppl I am pilot most think I am some sort of a millionaire and have no idea who/what is actually at the front of the big metal tube.

It's not worthless if congress passes a law saying you need an ATP to work in the 121 biz...

I agree with IC ALL on this one! If congress says you need an ATP, and you have one (even though its a single and you have plenty of multi time), you still have an ATP.

I knew I liked you IC ALL, even though you delete my Bill Brasky quotes!

I don't know what the hiring market was like back in the mid 80s when I started to fly, but I thought it was like this too back then.
