I just write the tail numbers on a hard copy of the HI3 I'm currently flying and enter them at the end of the sequence.
I'm not sure keeping a record of the tail numbers is necessary but I do it in case there is any question about it.

Don't worry about tail numbers.. Just use flight #'s if you want.. Most people at the airlines don't log each individual flight anyway.

I use the monthly activity sheets under the pay tab in Jetnet for updating logbooks, it can go back 3 years. It has every flight # you did along with the times.
