I agree taking flying from the mainline is not good for anyone except AMR execs.

Are we still hiring? I'd imagine it'd be tough to find anyone who wants to come here now. Any of you guys planning on bailing?

I haven't heard of any cancelled classes yet. And I still have heard of people with interviews coming up... those have yet to be cancelled. But the night is young...

According to the guys in class, they've been told not to worry, and it shouldn't effect them. Certainly hope so...

For the optimists....you could very well find your career accelerating.

For the pessimists...they could furlough.

Just do what you have to, and let the cards fall where they may. I don't think this is going to be a terrible thing. Maybe some senior AA guys will retire early. You just never know.

Classes are not canceled and hiring projections for 2012 have not changed. Still looking to bring on board 700 pilots this next year.

And before any more smug comments are made regarding the issue: all flow through agreements are still in place.

Obviously you don't know how bankruptcy works, but keep drinking that kool-aid.

LOL...whatever you say, "expert".

Here is a thought: try some originality instead of acting like an aviation forum monkey. Saying things like "kool-aid" and "sjs" doesn't put you above anybody else.

I don't want to burst your naivete bubble, but AMR has been planning this BK for a while now. Boeing and Airbus were probably already privy to it, and those aircraft are still coming. Fact.

Dan Garton knew BK was coming as did every other exec within AMR. The hiring projections at Eagle are based on future projections, not any current situation. They all know that regardless of any BK ruling they will need pilots to staff their fleet. They also know how many pilots they are set to lose within the next few years.

Don't underestimate just how much "in the know" AMR is about this whole thing. Some of you are acting like we just came out of the clouds and hit a mountain....as if this is all some big surprise.

More importantly, most of you are just doom and gloom cheerleaders. Just like the Joker in the Dark Knight...you just want to watch the world burn. In this case, the "world" is American Eagle/ the Airlines.

News flash: Delta, United, Continental, UsAir, etc... all filed Chapter 11 long before AMR did. And when they did they were in a much worse situation than AMR is right now.

Embraer

News flash: AMR has less cash on hand, as a percentage of revenue, than NW had when they filed. AMR is in a vastly different stage than those lines were. Different economy, different chapter 11, different competitive environment. AMR has to watch for several hostile takeover enemies--especially LCC.

Eagle is going to change hugely, if AMR can change scope at AA. The 50-swatted are toast, but 70-seaters and/or larger planes may come. OTOH, AA might make a "B-scale" like in their last contract proposal for 90-149 seat jets and eliminate Eagle thru bankruptcy. Thus is only day ONE.

WRT the Boeing/Airbus order, none of those planes have arrived, probably won't until the case is closed, so they aren't FACTS, just rumors.

Well, according to AMRs official press releases, the Boeing and Airbus deals are still going forward "full steam ahead". So while not an absolute certainty (nothing ever is) its not a "rumor". The flow through deals are yet to be determined, but since they are mostly arbitrated grievance settlements, not negotiated contracts, I would be willing to bet they stay in place, since they benefit both companies and cost nothing.
