Because he has self esteem issues. He argues with everyone that has a different job than him that he has the best job in the world.

You offered no advice with that comment galaxy. Enjoy your 15 day trip. That sounds awful to me.

We are not certain that these are for both AA/AE, the AE unions are meeting with management as we speak, AA went in the morning and AE is in the afternoon. I can tell you that these numbers are more than likely American alone because on the restructuring website they are showing 400 furloughs at American Airlines (APA). We are still waiting to hear the news on Eagle but we have been told that it probably won't come for a few weeks since what happens at Eagle is dependent on the agreements at AA. And before people say wishful thinking, this has been spelled out by the company and the union over the last few days. The Eagle 1113 won't be available for a while!

What 02-01-2012 03:39 PM

So while the AA unions got their 1113, and the Unions shared the information available to them with the media and their membership, we got this at Eagle:

Attention Eagle Pilots,

Today, your MEC officers, representatives and negotiators, along with ALPA National staff, met with Eagle management at its request to receive a briefing on the status of AMR’s bankruptcy and the impact it is going to have on American Eagle. No American Eagle contract proposals were provided or received. We are currently working with our bankruptcy counsel to review the information presented by management at today’s meeting and we will be providing more information as it becomes available in the coming weeks. Most of what was discussed at this meeting is confidential under our confidentiality agreement with the Company which limits our ability to discuss the contents of the meeting. We will continue to inform the pilot group as best we can within the confines of this confidentiality agreement.

Representing ALPA at today’s meeting were:****

We have already heard that there are significant rumors already posted on message boards. Summaries of the company’s opening proposals to the AA labor unions are currently posted on the website www.***.com Please visit this website and read these proposals yourselves. In addition to the proposals, the web site includes a restructuring presentation which contains some slides that were presented to the MEC today by AMR.

Do not succumb to message board rumors which can only cause additional stress and fear. As you know, we have been engaged with American Eagle management for all of last year in anticipation of Eagle’s divestiture from AMR. We have extensive knowledge of Eagle’s financials and various business plans and initiatives. We do not anticipate much news on Eagle between now and when we receive the company’s opening contract proposals which we expect in the next several weeks. The MEC is fully informed and fully briefed and they are working tirelessly on your behalf.

Typical pathetic levels of communication from our MEC. We know stuff, but wont tell you..but don't you DARE speculate.

Where do they think the speculation comes from?

AMR will be known for single-handedly averting the pilot shortage

Not trying to fight with you, I'd like a shortage/slowdown in the pipeline as much as the next guy, but it would take a heck of a lot more than AMR! So I whileheartedly disagree with your post. There is not and was not a shortage. There are still a lot of pilots of ALL levels out there, plus a plethora of career changers. Probably the only real shortage maker will be an unwatered-down ATP rule, which by the way is loooong overdue.
