I'm sure it surprised the class that was in session when Brad Holt came in and said they wouldn't be paid and if they didn't like it they could get up and leave. They had been told up to that point they would be paid.

I doubt there is a need to hire, reserves are not breaking gurantee amd we are not cx flights. Don't forget the horrible lines we had the last two years with being so overstaffed. I'd rather be awarded 90 hours every month than 80.

There is definitely a need on the bro fo side of things. For May SLC has 36 projected lines with 4 reserve lines, FAT has something like 65 lines with 3 reserve lines, there is almost no where system wide that has min res coverage on most days of the month. Reserves might no be breaking guarantee but we're getting damn close and screw support is being forced to do some creative tdy crap to cover the stuff they have. I was told by a lady at HDQ that had they known how many people were not going to return from VLA they would have run the new hire class of 16 that got cancelled. I really hope we see some movement, no one should ever have to be on 3rdyear Bro FO pay and still on reserve. 17K first year, 23K 2nd year, on track for 25 this year, I'd like to shove those numbers up Roger Cohens Ass when he quotes how muck regional pilots make.

What are the average number of hours that line holders are getting awarded by PBS for your position/domicile?
Back when we were really short handed 3 or so years ago, everyone was getting 95+hours a month from PBS and all of the reserves were crediting over a 100 every month. If they ran out of reserves, lineholders would just get reflowed. We had some domiciles that had more lines predicted for the month than they had pilots for - no reserve lines at all. Anything in open time up to six weeks out was paid at time and a half for a while (not the current 5 day window). Like I've said before, if we aren't cancelling flights because of it -management doesn't believe we're short staffed.

I really wished it hadn't happened, but it did. 2003 or so. I think around that time they also went to doubling up in the hotel rooms as well.
When I got hired in 2000, I was in only the 3rd or so class to even get paid during training. Up until the end of 99', you only received a check for $600 at the completion of training (aircraft ride in the EMB). SkyWest was actually having a lot of no shows for class and decided to start paying.
BH went to ASA in 2007-08?

Flights are being cxld on the emb side. CS is calling fos on their days off to do trips. We're short fos on the emb side so it only makes sense to transition guys to the jet and hire new guys into the brasilia. I'll believe it when I see it though, just like the last time they said they were going to hire. Losing oxr, sba-sjc and moises lake in June though, it could be a wash.

But in SLC in June we add 3 daily KSUN, 1 KCOD and start the seasonal KWYS. I'd be more than happy to be flying 100 hours a month as a reserve, the reality is that I'm used all but one or 2 days a month and only fly 68-70 hours. It's no bueno when the guys right above me are composite and have 15 days off a month and I get 5 on 2 off for 11 off and never break guarantee.

Ask any pilot with an employee number in the 17XXX range about it.
